Okay. Action Figure then. Did you read about the ruckus he caused in the temple?

Yeah, I file "talking Jesus dolls" under "bad idea."

My first thought, although I think such a doll is a bit sacreligious.

I'm with you. If the company wishes to donate their dolls, good for them. But let them distribute the dolls themselves rather than rely on Toys for Tots. For Toys, in this atmosphere, it is buying 4,000 lawsuits from the likes of the Michael Newdows and Mohammeds and Levy's out there. As to accepting gifts, any poor parent welcomes a chance to get toys for their children and there are other holidays this time of year for other religions.

The charity is a good one and is accomplishing good. If toys go to non-Christian tots, then good. Maybe they will begin asking why some good people do good things in December and find out something they didn't know beforehand. What this sounds like is a publicity stunt by a company that wants to cause a furor either against the Marines or against political correctness and they are not above using poor children to do so. Who do you suppose notified the press about the Marine's reaction? I doubt it was the Marines.

If posters disagree with what happened, then buy the dolls yourself and distribute them. Leave the Marines out of this unless you want them sued and compromised in a whole lot of ways we can't foresee.

And, like you said, Jesus isn't a toy. I can't imagine what a doll would look like and sound like to do justice to the Son of God. Can anyone say, "idolatry"?

Me too. I find that Jesus as a doll is disrespectful. I can't believe people would actually buy such a thing. I am surprised by my FRiends that don't seem to mind the silliness of a talking Jesus. I am saddened by that. I hope that they learn that Jesus is supposed to be revered not to be played with for five minutes and then end up at the bottom of a toy box. I believe it is another slippery slope that began with the magachurches and I guess we will continue to slide down as "Christians" try to sell religion as entertainment. SAD DAY IN AMERICA!!!!!

I agree that Jesus toys are not appropriate -- especially for giving away to families when background religion is not known.

Cherry picked verses or quotations are not for toys either. Teach the kids to read -- and then have them read the entire bible cover to cover -- all of it, every page, and then be ready to explain the hard parts. Then have them read the book "Why I Am Not a Muslim" to find out about Islam. And then some more about other religions such as Buddhism and some ancient mythology -- now that would might be a good line for toys -- the Gods and Goddesses of Norse, Roman, Greek and other mythology.

I agree. We were in a little restaurant in Virginia a couple of weeks ago and there was a display case with lots of different Jesus toys for sale. I thought the purpose was to be disrespectful. They were all made in China, of course.

"I unapologetically submit that Jesus is not a toy."

No one is implying that He is.

The doll is not the real Jesus and speaks Scripture.

Some of us have the Bible on CD or DVD - being spoken. You may object to the medium - a doll but for a child this is appropriate.
