President Rudy Giuliani?
Forbes ^ | 11/14/2006 | Nathan Vardi

Posted on 11/14/2006 11:02:49 AM PST by Dark Skies

Giuliani has been carefully preparing for this moment. He spent the past election season accumulating a reservoir of good will among Republicans, campaigning hard for Republican candidates from Oregon to New Hampshire. He was particularly adept at raising money for those candidates and has established himself as one of few presidential hopefuls capable of raising the $100 million or so that is seen as necessary to win the White House. At the moment, he is getting help from Anne Dickerson, who ran President Bush’s highly successful Pioneer and Ranger fundraising machine in 2004.

Giuliani has allied closely with Bush & Co. He made a high profile speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention and has gone on the road to stump with President Bush. There has also been speculation, started by the Washington Post's Kathleen Parker, that Ken Mehlman, the outgoing Republican National Committee chairman and former Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign manager, will be joining the Giuliani camp.

Rudy instead of Hillary. Any day, any time IMHO. He may not be everything conservatives want but the country is generally a center-right nation and most importantly today we need someone who can lead on TOUGH issues. I think Rudy could do that. Hillary is too polarizing.

Depends upon whose definition of "social liberal" you use. However, the important issue is which candidate will protect the US from its enemies everything else is secondary. And which candidate can rally the American People to support the fight. Guiliani wins that hands down.

I have NEVER suggested that "no one but Giuliani can defend this country from terrorism?" I have no worry about McCain in that regard either. Now it has become apparent to me that Guiliani might be the only politician who can obtain the White house from the GOP in 08 particulary after the rejection last Tuesday of some of the best conservatives the party has.

Tuesday's results indicates the virtual impossibility of a far rightist candidate succeeding nationally especially without destroying the power of the Treason Media beforehand.

Haven't you figured out that the Right will be painted as ULTRA Right while even a Republican moderate will be claimed to be Rightist?

Often the Right Wing doesn't even wait for the Treason Media to destroy it but jumps the gun and does it itself.

I love JC but he has dropped out of the spotlight by leaving Congress and this damages his political viability.

I confess I'm more than a little concerned about Romney and illegal immigration. The Romney family came here from Mexico and still have a long list of relatives in MExico. I don't say this to be racist, but to say it makes me wonder if this would affect his decision-making about the border situation or a open border such as many fear is being worked toward in the form of a North American Union.

GIULIANI: Which would be that I would help her with taking care of the baby. But if the ultimate choice of the woman - my daughter or any other woman - would be that in this particular circumstance [if she had] to have an abortion, I'd support that. I'd give my daughter the money for it.

###

No distortion here. He'd still give her the money to kill her baby. He'd just suggest she not do it. Great! That makes it OK.

Ran the worst campaign I have ever seen. Never could get on message. Tried to bring up illegal immigration but it didn't work here as Henry went right back and told him it was the federal government and why didn't he do anything as a Rep about fixing it.

Then OK GOP jumps in the act and comes out with a door hangar of why to vote Republican with scare tactics. Keep in mind that we did not have a senate race as I post about the door hangar that was put out days before the election:

On the one side it has old pictures of Kennedy and Ms. Clinton with big bold letters -- DON'T LET THE LIBERALS WIN. It is blue background with YELLOW lettering. On the reverse side with a picture of Kerry and Howard Dean it says:

The liberals want you to skip this election. as the title.

Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the national Democrats don't want you to vote on Nov. 7th. They know this year's election is going to be close, and your vote could decide which party controls Congress and the State Capitol.

IF REPUBLICANS don't vote it could mean:

John Kerry can raise your taxes and the State Democrats can keep taxes high on Oklahoma families.

Hillary Clinton will lead the charge in appeasing terrorists and weakening our military

Ted Kennedy will decide our policy on immigration while Oklahoma Democrats continue to give illegal immigrants benefits like an in-state tuition. (my comment -- it was a Republican bill)

Howard Dean will make abortions more common.

Defend your values.

Vote Republican on Nov 7th (end of door hangar)

That did not play well and my phone rang off the hook of complaints in our County that they did not like scare tactics and why do this when we didn't have a Senate election AND how could Howard Dean make abortion more common.

This was Paid for by the Republican State Committee of Oklahoma of which I am a member and if I had seen this before it went to print, I would have screamed that it not the way to go. We needed to give voters a reason to Vote Republican not a scare tactic IMHO!

Does Hillary?

She could watch Bill having sex with another woman and, it would not change one thing of her running for president.

Of course I can't really blame Bill for staying as far away from her as he possibly can.

Besides, with those fat legs of hers she could possible kill the man.

Dear bombthrower,

Sorry, no. If Mr. Giuliani wins the Republican nomination for the presidency, those of us who are social conservatives will have already lost the election.

"He may not be everything conservatives want but the country..."

He is NOTHING that social conservatives want. NOTHING. His nomination would represent total and abject defeat for social conservatives in the United States.

Whether he won or the officially-branded Democrat won (in that both candidates would be liberal Democrats), it wouldn't make a dime's worth of difference on issues of social conservativism.

If the officially-branded Democrat won, we could at least draw one silver lining from the dark clouds coming upon us, and that would be that Republicans would be less likely to entirely and completely abandon us social conservatives the next time around.

If you kick folks to the curb by nominating someone who is entirely opposed 100% diametrically against our agenda, don't be surprised if a lot of us decide not to vote for the fellow.

Romney will never win Oklahoma if last Tuesday's results are an indication. We had a Mormon running for Governor and the Church stepped in the campaign which went from bad to worse. My former State Rep was a Mormon and I won't go into details on an open forum but suffice to say no one in our District will be supporting Romney in the primary. Once again we saw the Mormon Church in action.

For some people, it is a little more complicated.

He is anti-abortion, but he believes that making abortion illegal forces women to seek out back alley abortions when they cannot be persuaded to have the baby.

I am strongly pro-life and I agree with you that abortion is disgusting (and murder/sin).

On the other hand, I also believe that premarital sex is a sin and that sin leads to pregnancy.

We have seen that legislative prohibitions for the most part don't stop such sins as these.

I believe the solution in the long run is a matter of educating women (and men) so that they understand the implications of an abortion (and there are tremendous psychological ramifications from having an abortion) and so that they are offered the opportunity to have the baby and put it up for adoption if they like without the ridiculous social stigma. In fact, having a baby, even if putting it up for adoption, is a heroic and loving act.

Defeating sin cannot be done legislatively. It must be done by spreading the word that sin kills the soul and the spirit.

With regards to Romney, you have to take a look at his voting record. All prolife issues that came to the Governor's desk he voted for the prolife position. He has been very vocal against Gay-Marriage so much so that the Boston Globe has trying to take him down for the last three years. He maybe a politician of sorts but I doubt you find anyone out there to your liking who is electable.

"For every defection of "conservatives" there will be two others joining the party."

So what you are saying is that you are in support of splitting the GOP from its current makeup and making it another Democratic Party. If you do that, the Giuliani supporters will be responsible for turning over the country to Hillary Clinton, not the Conservatives.
