Giuliani has been carefully preparing for this moment. He spent the past election season accumulating a reservoir of good will among Republicans, campaigning hard for Republican candidates from Oregon to New Hampshire. He was particularly adept at raising money for those candidates and has established himself as one of few presidential hopefuls capable of raising the $100 million or so that is seen as necessary to win the White House. At the moment, he is getting help from Anne Dickerson, who ran President Bushs highly successful Pioneer and Ranger fundraising machine in 2004.
Giuliani has allied closely with Bush & Co. He made a high profile speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention and has gone on the road to stump with President Bush. There has also been speculation, started by the Washington Post's Kathleen Parker, that Ken Mehlman, the outgoing Republican National Committee chairman and former Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign manager, will be joining the Giuliani camp.

Tell that to Sodom.
I'm with you on this.
Get ready for Rudy everyone.
Assuming that Dick Cheney holds true to his word and does not run, the Republican Party is going to be at a disadvantage in 2008. No one past Mr. Cheney has any successful experience at running a national campaign. Senator McCain couldn't get the nomination under "jump-ball" conditions and there's no one else on the scene with any better experience (except for Jeb Bush and he, too, has said he won't run).
Given such an inexperienced field, Mr. Giuliani has a serious chance for success. He's held executive office (a great vita hit nowadays), virtually every Republican running for office wants him on the campaign trail, and he's been around New York money. Plus, the guy is smooth as silk with communication and media. While he's no favorite for most strongly committed conservatives, Mr. Giuliani plays as a "center-right" Republican who could put together a more centrist movement.
A lot of folks on FR expressed discontent in 2006 over the quality of the candidates. Just wait for Rudy in 2008. You'd better get real busy right now to find a serious, strong conservative contender besides clear losers like Steve Forbes or Pat Buchanan or Alan Keyes or . . .
Did you ever notice she only has 2 expressions? Complete and utter disdain and Zoloft induced happiness/wackiness.
There are any number of other potential candidates who have just as much capability as Rudy, without the baggage and skeletons in the closet. Giuliani is a liberal, even his own mother said so.
Apologies to Harold Ford.
The more I've read Clinton books -- I've amassed quite a library on both, the more convinced I am that we have to vote smart in 2008 not ideals. Sometimes it's ideals that will destroy a country and a party.
No one has a gun to your head. Vote for Hildabeast, I could care less what you do.
Just because you didn't sue someone who misquotes you, doesn't mean you tacitly agree with them. I thought conservatives are for less lawsuits.
The interview from which this headline comes is posted above. If you read it, it is very clear that the headline is taken out of context.
Well, it was a prostate cancer which ducked him - let's not stray from the truth too far.
That is the same argument the dims made over the lewinsky mess. I question a persons character along with their qualifications.
I absolutely agree.
The article makes no mention of his excess baggage in addition to his partnership with Bernie Kerik. Ultimately, it is unlikely he can prevail.
There's nothing anecdotal about privileges and licensing schemes, or the fact that the right to keep and bear arms is a right. There is also nothing anecdotal about Rudy's gun grabbing, or the fact that NYC does not issue permits on a shall issue basis. They issue them to politicos and their good buddies. These and the rest of my post are observations and were presented as such.
LOL!!!
i am enjoying reading your and phikapmom's posts. y'all make almost too much sense.
Not yet. But you RINO's seem hell bent on getting to that point don't you...
Stop trying to drag the GOP leftward. This country already has the Socialist Dems to fill that niche.
Rick is not a front runner after what happened to him in PA. I think he needs to run for governor in 2010, and then run for president.
You'd be amazed at how few people really know how bad she really is and when the media gets done building her up she is going to be walking on water.
So you go ahead and vote your ideals in 2008 but when Hillay wins, don't whine for the next eight years.
BTW, I like Newt Gingrich, too... but his comments about health care (worked with Hillary) have me a little concerned... for someone who is a real conservative. Newt is taking healthcare to the big-brother stage and I don't want that. And, again, the things you are all saying about Rudy being liberal are all things DC should not be in the middle of anyway, we need to elect conservative State Representative to make certain we don't have gay marriage, abortions or gun control.
Two cents? That was a million dollar post.
