WASHINGTON The race to be the No. 2 House Democratic leader turned nasty Tuesday, with challenger Rep. John Murtha accusing opponents of "swift-boat style attacks" that hark back to his days being investigated in the FBI's 1980 Abscam sting.

I say give them all knives, lock them in a small room for ten minutes, and the last man standing gets the position.

There was an article posted this morning ( I think from the Washington Times) quoting Jim Moran as saying that Murtha was going to win this easily, because we are "entering a new age in Congress where nobody will dare cross the Speaker, and Pelosi wants Murtha.."

I suspect that Rumsfeld's reorganization left him without contact to throw defense department contracts his way and that's what brought about that tantrum. Now he's being screwed over by this San Francisco treat!
At least it gives us something to laugh about.

Trouble is our troops are upset as it is. I don't want to wish Murtha on them too.

I WANT Murtha to be House Majority leader.
He's certifiable. Between him and Pelosi, the American voter will come back on their knees begging for Republican control.
Look at his picture. I wonder if the guy takes Aricept?

Because of the DINO's, Lieberman, and others.
The other thing is that the D's aren't going to want tit for tat. They stonewall Bush's picks, the same is going to happen 'when' a D wins the WH.
God help them if either Akaka or Inouye kick it in Hawaii.

Uh huh...proves what a dumbo he really is, when all of us knew Sunday that it was a mere *wink*wink* letter of support, just to get herself off the hook to him.
Senile old fool.

Murtha reminds me of an old sow we used to have in the barn. You had to hogtie her sometimes to get her to stay put, but the moment you gave her some slack in the rope, she bucked, kicked, thrashed and went crazy.

The more I hear from this guy, the more I think it's a wonderful thing that Pelosi is doing!
Only the Dem's very best should be in leadership positions! LOL!

I couldn't disagree with you more. The Dim's don't care about the future - they plan on being in power forever, and they have already shown they can obstruct as a minority. They have the LSM in their pockets to obscure and lie for them.
Secondly, Lieberman and other DINOs are all pro-choice, so there's no help on conservative judges there. Lieberman voted against the partial birth abortion ban, after all. You'll only get DINO votes for a stealth candidate, and then we won't know whether that stealth candidate will become another Souter.

Heath Schuler, for one, is a pro-lifer. I seem to remember two other's were as well.
The interesting thing about this is they have 49 plus 2 caucausers. The R's are in no mood for disloyalty, and we only need a couple more. McCain is running for President - no way he goes off the reservation, or its retirement time for the old hob.
Specter may try to drift, and the two nutjobs you site are certainly possibilities.
