Swing District Analysis NFRA Newsletter ^ | November 12, 2006 | Grover Norquist

Posted on 11/13/2006 8:18:22 PM CST by WOSG

There are now 58 House Democrats elected in districts that voted for Bush in 2004. There are now only nine House Republicans elected in districts that voted for Kerry in 2004. Note the larger Bush Margins than Kerry margins. Those 58 Dem’s are in more difficult districts than the nine R’s.

If in 2008 the R's only won those districts that performed 58% or more for Bush in 2004 they would pick up 18seats.

If in 2008, the R's only win those districts that performed 55% or more for Bush in 2004, they would pick up 32 seats.

Remember, when Bush won in 2004 it was with only 51% of the vote. This is a low party vote for president, not a Reagan landslide number.

I don't even know what 100% conservative is, if there is such a thing. Purity is a foolish endeavor. But, there are some issues that are make or break. The problem is that that standard is different for everyone.

It's funny when I hear socialist argue that religious people are irrational. Given socialism's 100% failure rate, belief in it is inherently irrational.

People crack me up around here! Some act like spoiled kids...LOL

No one politician is going to be perfect and share your beliefs on every issue.

You have to pick the one that you agree with the most, or that you know will be strong on the WOT (in my case).

There are whispers in the Congressional community that Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi maybe counting her chickens before they have hatched. It seems that many moderate Democrats are waking up with a hangover worse than a Sailor after a three day liberty.
Back channel chat between the newly majority Dems and the still sore GOPers may be coming to a deal to pull the rug out from under Ms. Pelosi by choosing a moderate or conservative Democrat congressman for Speaker that both can support.

Congresswoman Pelosi has already become more of a lightning rod in a position that she hasn't taken yet, than former Speaker Newt Gingrich. Many southern Democrats are already at odds with the liberals poised to take commitee chairmanships and three have considered changing party affiliation.

Two high-ranking Democrats have already been publically rebuked, Congressman Steny Hoyer of Maryland and Congresswoman Jane Harmon of California. Most notably, in breach of Beltway etiquette, assumed Speaker Pelosi openly supporting Congressman John Murtha, Pennsylvania, for Majority Leader over Hoyer.

One aide, who didn't want to be identified, said, "It might be time to take her down a notch or two, referring to Pelosi. If she keeps the way she's been going, someone might pour a bucket of water over her head!", referring to the climactic scene in the film "The Wizard of Oz".

"It might be time to take her down a notch or two, referring to Pelosi. If she keeps the way she's been going...

Or there's the Rich Galen's http://mulling.com solution. If all the Republicans got together and voted for the least objectionable Dumbocrat (Hoyer?), it would only take 15 Dem votes to make a majority...
