Democrat Reid elected Senate majority leader
10 minutes ago
U.S. Sen. Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record), a moderate Nevada Democrat, was elected by colleagues on Tuesday as U.S. Senate majority leader for the 110th Congress that will convene in January.
Reid, like most fellow Democrats, favors a phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, a major issue in last week's elections that saw Democrats win control of the Senate and House of Representatives from President George W. Bush's Republicans.
Reid has served the past two years as Senate minority leader. He replaced Tom Daschle, who was ousted by voters in his home state of South Dakota in 2004 after being denounced as "the chief obstructionist" to Bush's conservative agenda.
Democrats also elected Dick Durbin of Illinois as assistant Senate majority leader. He has been Senate assistant minority leader since January 2005.

Dirty Harry????
For the MSM almost all Dems are moderates and almost all Republicans are extremists.
well, at least dingy harry is pro-second amendment..and has fought gun laws in the past....at least that is...something.
Senator "Land Deal" Ried, Majority Leader.
Now it's time to indict him.
I thought he was going down for illegal land deals.
I guess some animals are more equal then others.
a moderate wouldn't brag about killing the Patriot Act, among his other transgressions.
An extremist partisan liberal WOULD
Great!
Now I'm sure than MJ Reid will remind the American public about the values that his Blue Dog Demos ran on...that enabled him to become MJ..
conservative values.
Harry "The Body" Reid
'scuse me?
Nobody takes office until january...
the dimwits do not have a 'majority' yet.
I agree... Bring it on... I'm hungering for some political 'bloodsport'. What's good for the goose must also by definition be good for the, um, Demo/Commie, huh...
This is the start of Pelosi's "most ethical congress."
Soon, even Mexico will be better.
I'm suprised that Reid was made Majority Leader considering his involvement in that shady land deal.
I don't understand how this can happen now. The new Congress hasn't convened. The Congress now is not a 'Rat majority. They've got some new members coming in who haven't taken office yet, and so can't vote on things like this. Is it some kind of symbolic gesture, a sort of rub your nose in it deal? Wouldn't surprise me if it were. Can't expect much class from a bunch of 'Rats.
What if they don't have the Majority when January rolls around?????????
Was there any doubt that dirty hairy would lead the senate?
None in my view...it pays to be crooked (clintons); it pays to do things behind the back (clintons); it pays to lies (clintons); it pays to do crimes but not the time (clintons)
Good example those clintons left their party isn't it? And there are some out there in our country that think that another Clinton is what this country needs...uuuuuurrrrrggggg
I bet Willy Jefferson is even breathing a sigh of relief these days.
