President al-Assad discusses with American Pastor Warren relations between Syria and the USA

Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 07:35 PM

DAMASCUS, (SANA)_ The meeting between President Bashar al-Assad and Pastor Rick Warren, a famous Protestant clergyman in the USA and an accompanying delegation on Sunday focused on the Syrian-American relations.

The American delegation stressed that the American administration is mistaken not to hold dialogue with Syria. The importance of dialogue among religions and achieving the just and comprehensive peace in the region which leads for stability and prosperity were emphasized during the meeting.

Pastor Warren hailed the religious coexistence, tolerance and stability that the Syrian society is enjoying due to the wise leadership of President al-Assad, asserting that he will convey the true image about Syria to the American people.

He offered to President al-Assad a memorial drawing as a gift to the Syrian people for their generosity and hospitality, thanking their efforts exerted for maintaining peace and harmony.

Syria and Iran are the number 1 providers of technology and expertise in the construction of improvised explosive devices being used in Iraq.

Rick Warren is beginning to act like Jimmy Carter. His job is to preach the gospel, not liberation theology.

What? Why is Rick Warren going to Syria to schmooze with Assad? I am truly confused. Yesterday Blair says we should team up with Iran and Syria. Now this. The end is near. All semblance of reason has left us. It's surreal. I keep looking around waiting for Jamie Kennedy to appear and tell me I've been X'd and I'm on his hidden camera show.

I think Rick Warren is beginning to believe his own publicity. His books are theologically weak...and he has left a trail of destruction in his wake as church after church adopts his "purpose-driven" plan, but discard those who don't agree with his new style of doing church.

He needs to come home and clean his own house.

I wish these left-wing clerics would stay home. I am a Christian, and they don't represent me. Syria is a lamentable dictatorship, something these clerics are ignorant of.

Rick Warren, author of the "Purpose Filled Life" stuff.

I've read PFL, and much of his second book...but his coziness with murderers like Assad makes me, let's say, uneasy.

He ought not be badmouthing our country and our government while overseas--but who will hold him to account? The government? His flock? The evangelical community as a whole?

What about Syria's support of Hezbollah and those who murder innocent Jews? Did Rick Warren make a public statement condemning that kind of behavior?

This reminds me of a graphic I saw on FR earlier: "Vote Democrat, Maybe we'll behead you last." Warren doesn't know who he's messing with in Assad.

I wonder if Rick would've carried on a nice dialogue Saddam Hussein or Adolph Hitler?

He seems moving away from a Biblical faith/works perspective to more of a works/self reliance perspective.

Liberalism and secular humanism is akin to being in friendship with the world, which is emnity with God. As a Christian I fully believe in reaching out to all people in love and letting the light of Christ shine but it is also balanced by the truth of the gospel. An old African American preacher once told me to be careful because one could love the Devil himself.

I don't know how led of The Spirit he is on such matters.

IF

God has messages for Assad and Warren is a faithful courier . . . fine with me.

I can't believe he's so stupid as to believe Christian persuasion will turn any tide toward good with Assad.

I don't blame him for seeking to do good. It's part of the Gospel to be a peace maker. But if he becomes as clueless as peanut brain . . . God have mercy.

I'm bookmarking your post and profile. Your comment on the New Apostolic Reformation are spot on. As someone who spent several years in the movement before God opened my eyes and very graciously led me out, I am convinced that this movement and it's leaders will be instrumental in bringing about the One World Apostate Church.

Plenty of likelihood that many folks are working toward such ends.

I pray Warren is not one of them. He must know better.

The New Apostolic Reformation is based upon liberalism and secular humanism and is a non-dispensationalist point of view. Liberalism and secular humanism are based upon godless philosophies of Kant,Nietzsche,Sarte etc. Tony Campolo and Jim Wallis seem to be its prime proponents.

"I don't know how led of The Spirit he is on such matters."

Sadly I think Rick is being led astray by himself on this one. These people he is outreaching to are evil.

The New Apostolic Reformation is based upon .... a non-dispensationalist point of view.

***

Is this definitely true and are all involved and attached to this movement fully aware to what kind of theology they have signed on to?

It seems to be the truth,I would say that it is highly likely that those that expound this point of view really deny the truth of the scriptures. Read Colossians 2 where it talks about being lead astray by the philosophies of men. It is naturally to be non-dispensationalist because it places more of a reliance for man to solve the world's problems rather than the eventual return of Christ to establish His kingdom in a new heaven and new earth.

I think you have the movement confused with another. The New Apostolic Reformation is a subset of the charismatic movement (though it has transcended the charismatic movement through many parachurch organizations such as Promise Keepers) led by conservatives for the most part. It was spearheaded by C. Peter Wagner. It basically calls for a new reformation of the church where churches and ministries will placed under the proper authority of this movement's new apostles.

Of course, this begs the question, to whom will the apostles be submitted? An ultimate super apostle maybe. The Pope? In fact, there is ample evidence that these "leaders" will seek an armistice with Rome perhaps sharing authority with the Pope.
