American Priest Says no Peace without Syria
Syria Arab News Agency ^ | November 13, 2006 | Mazen / Zahra

American Protestant Pastor Rick Warren on Monday said there was no peace in the region without Syria, noting that 80 percent of the American people rejected what the US Administration is doing in Iraq and considered the US policy in the Mideast as wrong.

Syria’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Badr al-Din Hassoun received the American Pastor in Damascus in which he referred to the importance of spreading culture of amity, peace and coexistence instead of the 'clash of civilizations'.

The Mufti called for conveying the real image of Syria, national unity and its call to spread peace, amity and justice to the American people which the US administration has distorted their image before the world.

Pastor Warren expressed admiration of Syria and the coexistence he saw between Muslims and Christians, stressing that he will convey this image to his church and country.

Before believing them I would like to see a direct quote from Warren in a trustworthy news source.

I hope that it includes an explanation of what he was doing, meeting with the Grand Mufti of Syria, in Damascus.

I'm pretty sure that he wasn't hawking an Islamic version of, "40 Days of Purpose", although one can never be too sure.

Of course! Whether this particular report is true or not, those who don't recognize messianic megalomaniacs when they encounter them, lack discernment and are begging to be fleeced by every grifter that crosses their path. There really are those who covet power and adoration over wealth, as hard as that is for some to believe. :)

No matter how obvious something may be, there will always be some who will have to learn the hard way.

No peace without Syria doesn't mean war. The rest goes something like: no war without Egypt.

Christians in Syria are treated as 2nd and 3rd class citizens. However, this is pretty much better than any other middle east country.

In Iraq - since the advent of the new Islamic government - Christians are fleeing for their lives. I've read that some have fled to Syria.

"No matter how obvious something may be, there will always be some who will have to learn the hard way."

Exactly. But some seem to think it is possible to save people from themselves.

I used to be one of them. No more. :)

"Warren is a very conservative guy"

Oh, really? Is that why he subscribes to the environmentalists' Global Warming theory? He is a One World guy, far from conservative. He might very well be conservative in some areas, but he is LIBERAL as pastors go.

Day 1~Kill the infidel

Now THAT'S funny.

And oddly enough, it is about how I felt, after my church subjected itself to a "40 Days of Purpose" campaign. It was a stupendous waste of time, energy, and resources.

With two years hindsight, it is clear that we would have been better off just reading the Bible for 40 days. But instead, we opted for the circus act.

I dunno. If there was no Syria, peace might be more likely...

he may be concerned about global warming - but he is conservative about values and that is what I commented upon in my post.
