The real Nancy Pelosi — multi-millionaire, non-union resort, dining and winery baroness

November 10th, 2006

Why doesn’t the LA Times or San Francisco Chronicle write about this? Where is the journalists’ oversight by mainstream media?

It’s up to citizen journalists

By Mick Gregory

Nancy Pelosi’s socialist political views are exactly what have kept her elected in San Francisco, along with the flow of union campaign money. The staunch “union supporter” Pelosi has even received the Cesar Chavez Award from the United Farm Workers Union. But her $25 million Napa vineyards and winery, she and her husband own is a non-union shop.

The hypocrisy doesn’t stop there. Pelosi has received more money from the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees union than any other member of Congress in recent election cycles.

The multi-millionaire investors own a large stake in an exclusive resort hotel in Wine Country, the Napa Valley Auberge Du Soleil Resort. It has more than 250 employees. But none of them are in a union, according to Peter Schweizer, author of “Do As I Say, (Not As I Do) – Hypocrisy of Democrats” and a regular contributor to the New York Times.

Pelosi is also partners in a restaurant chain called Piatti, which has 900 employees. The chain is – you might have guessed — a non-union shop.

The 68-year-old Pelosi has spent more money on facelifts and cosmetic enhancements, and Armani suits than any self-centered, faded Hollywood star. But does Pelosi represent your 68-year-old grandma’s values?

She has served on the executive committee of the Progressive Caucus, a socialist organization that, until 1999, was hosted by the Democratic Socialists Of America. They were asked to hide their connection after reviewing focus groups that show Americans still have negative feelings about Socialists. The Democrat leadership distanced themselves on paper to help the Democrats appear mainstream and elect Albert Gore.

In an address she delivered in 2002, she remarked, “We must stand together in a bipartisan way to fight the war against terrorism.” Though she supported the Clinton Administration’s military actions and massive civilian deaths in Haiti, Kosovo, and Bosnia, she has denounced both the 1991-02 and 2004-06 wars in Iraq. Pelosi has also opposed President George W. Bush on most issues of Homeland Security, and has most recently joined the ACLU’s crusade to limit the powers of the Patriot Act.

Let's don't get into class warfare, most members in Congress have money. And most of them are liars, so she pretty much is the status quo.

However, I'm not gonna bash her because she has money.

In the last few days since the election I have bookmarked so many posts to download. I just don't have the printer cartridge. Haven't been to town.
Man Free Republic is the best source for all the news you will never find from local sources.
Thanks for the heads up on this.

Wasn't Pelosi's father a mobbed-up politico from Baltimore? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

This was shared at World Net Daily; just before Election; excerpted from Peter Schweitzer's book Do As I Say: Not As I Do. the book has been out for some time.

But nonetheless; I wondered how it was as well, that this was not shouted from the 'Capitol dome' everytime Pelosi went on the attack - usually 'prime-time' and several times a week.

. . .of course, no real 'wondering' about the silence of Repubs; and for sure; how it enabled the Demrats.

I mean. . .the 'truth' of Murtha. . .and 'if Repubs stuffed money in their freezers. . .what would Pelosi say?' Where was/is the scandalous truth of Hillary - everyday? And what about the 'silence of Repubs as per the dilemma of Mr. Corruption - Harry Reid and the ad nauseum 'et al' Demrats?

It is no wonder, Rush tired of carrying water for Repubs. . .they would not pick up a bucket; much less take it to the well.

How absurd.

Exposing the facts of her agenda is necessary.

Class warfare? Straw woman.

We aren't "bashing" her, and if we were, it wouldn't be because she has money, it would be because she needs to do what she says.

She is the biggest complainer of earmarks, and has more than most other reps.

I hope she stays out on the prominent front of the Democrat Party with Dean, Carry and Clinton, Murtha Reid Shumer etc.

Defend her if you want to, everyone to their own devices.

The money is not the issue; it is the Liberal hypocrisy that accompanies it. . .

I don't know much of his history, but I do believe he was in politics in that area.

Addressing her non-union businesses is not class warfare; it's an inconvenient truth that she should have to deal with.

And the only way to keep it in the public mind is to mention it on a routine basis whenever she comes up in conversation or discussion.

Think it was O'Reilly who had guest last night - reruns this morning - who was in fact in a shouting match with Demrat strategist; throwing out some of this info and more; offering she was going to fight for the next 700 - or whtever - days before next Election; telling truth of Demrats. . .

I missed beginning and various parts of this; but hope that many more Repubs will take a 'page' from her book as to going for the jugular of every Demrat; where the truth should take a Repub.

Colmes opined she would be doing this for more than the days she allotted as Dems were in for the long haul.

It is amazing; and depressing; that this 'drumbeat' for Repubs who can just 'say it' has been going on for so long. . .

. . .the price for 'making-nice' or just plain silence; is just too high.

Pelosi's father, Tom D'Alesandro, Jr., was a Congressman (1939-47) and Mayor of Baltimore (1947-59). He lived long enough to see his daughter win her House seat before he died in 1987. Her brother, Tommy the IIIrd, was also Mayor of Bawlamer back from 1967-1971.

I read that part and thought to myself, there's someone as tired as I am....lol...but I eventually got the message. So Melanie was on O'Really's show last nite (Sunday???)? Because she mentioned more than once that she was going to fight to help the Country to get back on track for the next 700 days on H&C tonite...and Hannity said he would fight with her also.

And oh yea at Colmes comment. I heard that, and tried to cut it out of the clip I posted. What an ass.

He's all puffed up like a blowfish with out a clue.

Dang it, I wish I could keep up with Morgan's schedule so I could document more of her appearances, but am glad I got the heads up on this one. Luckily it is rerun a couple of times each nite.
