Democrats Tell President Bush: Don't Propose Judges Against Abortion
Life News ^ | 11/13/06 | Steven Ertelt

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Now that the elections have given them control of the Senate, leading Democrats on judicial issues have a message for President Bush. They don't want him to send up for confirmation any judges who would be hostile to legalized abortion or they plan vote down or filibuster them.

Democrats now have 51 votes in the Senate and will likely have a slim one vote majority on the Senate Judiciary Committee when Congress starts its new session in January.

Though they technically have enough votes on the panel and in the Senate to defeat any Bush judicial pick, they may still have a tough time keeping their caucus together as some moderate Democrats joined a group of Republicans in making sure filibusters weren't used to hold up nominees.

But leading pro-abortion Democrats tell Bush he needs to pick someone without a record opposed to abortion in order to get judges -- especially for the Supreme Court -- confirmed in their Senate.

Sen. Patrick Leahy, a Vermont Democrat, told Newsday that Bush should nominate only "consensus" nominees.

Sen. Charles Schumer, of New York, was more strident and vowed to block any nominee he feels is too extreme on abortion.

"We will do everything in our power to see that that happens," he told Newsday, saying filibusters should be expected. He added that Bush "will have to negotiate with us, because we'll have the majority."

There are no current Supreme Court openings, but pro-abortion Justice John Paul Stevens, who was the subject of retirement speculations shortly before the elections, is 86 years-old and battling significant health problems.

Ruth Bader Ginsberg, another abortion advocate is 73 years-old and has her own health concerns.

Had the GOP kept control of the Senate, the liberal judges may have waited to retire, but they could step down feeling that the chances they would be replaced by a less conservative judge are higher with Democrats heading up the chamber.

How Bush reacts to Democratic control may be seen in whether he chooses to re-nominate six conservative appeals court judges who have yet to be confirmed.

Should a Supreme Court opening develop closer to the 2008 presidential elections, that may put more pressure on Senate Democrats to hold off on confirming a replacement until afterwards.

My first action as POTUS after these clowns are officially sworn in would be to turn off the heat in both the Senate and House Chambers until the end of June. Then turn it up to 96. Hope it's a cold winter.

Good idea about shining a continuous light on the fakes. I hope the "Republican conservatives" are listening.

Classic divide and conquer strategy. The Democrats have one great weakness - they accommodate virtually everyone from Heath Shuler to Barney Frank. The Republicans are broad based, but not quite that broad. Force the conservative Democrats to time and again vote their principles or vote their party - either they will be exposed as frauds or the moonbat wing of the Democrats will erupt and the party will be in chaos. Either way, we win.

Regards, Ivan

I would tell Bush to give them the finger and send the most conservative pro-life candidate he has.

Sen. Charles Schumer, of New York, was more strident .... "We will do everything in our power to see that that unfettered abortion happens," he told Newsday, saying filibusters should be expected. He added that Bush "will have to negotiate with us perform an abortion himself, because we'll have the majority."

There ... fixed Schmuckies statement .....

We need to understand that one cannot get between the Dems and their lust for killing babies. These people are freaking jokes.

Their single-mindedness on the issue, their willingness to sacrifice anything -- the Constitution, their political success, the courts, anything -- to protect their right to kill children bears witness that there is something demonic at work here. I'm not engaging in hyperbole by saying that; I mean it with all sincerity.

W just doesn't have the balls to tell them that he will veto everything they pass. If he truly understood what Democrats are (i.e., the American equivalent of Islamic Terrorists) he WOULD get the balls and veto everything...

"Well, Senator Tester, Senator Casey, Senator Webb - your constituents voted for you because you weren't going to sign up for liberal baby killing nonsense. You can either obey your party and be exposed as having lied to the people who voted for you, or you can stick to the supposed principles you espouse and vote for my judges. Capiche?"

I really like that and I wish he'd do it because we all know we are about to find those "blue dog" Democrats are really just liberal blue through and through and they will prove it with their votes.

To Senator McCain and the other Republicans who cut the "Gang of 14" deal: meet your legacy. Your compromise has made it terribly difficult, well nigh impossible, to pass conservative judges.

If you and your fellow Senators had allowed the "Constitutional" option, we would get a straight up or down vote and most likely win, because several Southern Democrats would have gone along.

..... that there is something demonic at work here

You know? I think you're right.....I know they are evil, but SOMETHING is motivating them, and I think it is extra-ordinary.....

See #27 of ShandaLear. Recess appointments until we recharge the Senate with a rabid wolfpack of hardline GOP conservatives in 2008. In fact, bypass the normal appointment process until the Senate Judiciary Committee publicly surrenders and grovels. Thereafter. resume recess appointments when the first nominee for any appellate court is disrespected, delayed , voted down in committee or on the floor or impeded in any way.

There is a long delayed nominee for the appellate court covering Maryland, a nominee whose name is Peter Keisler. Name him to the first vacancy and let the fun begin. He is relatively young, Jewish, quite conservative, handsome and has a killer sense of humor (graduate of the High School for the Performing Arts in NYC and then Yale). Let his nomination go to Judiciary Committee. If they delay, let him make the rounds of press and media, off of whom he will charm the socks, and then give him a recess appointment after he has milked the press and media for all that they are worth. Put him on the SCOTUS and Leahy, Schmucky and Ted the Driver will go on pilgrimage to the White House to beg Bush to appoint Janice Rogers Brown. Keisler should be first since he does not have a judgeship and will not have to give up lifetime tenure for a recess appointment. He is also the sort of warrior who would relish the opportunity.

Keisler is also a protege of Morton Blackwell which counts for a great deal.

"The only possible strategy...

Turn abortion supporters on their head by not labeling them "democrat" or "republican".

Remind the public that the Judges who allowed infanticide in our country were Republican appointed. This gives politics of another party to "undo a Republican mess".

Recruit PTSD Vets of Foreign Wars, especially Vietnam Vets who can be surrogate fathers and/or grandfathers for post abortive women. Abortion is a generational crime, it will take generations of effort from many generations for very deep physical, mental, and spiritual heeling

Pictures abhor the conscience faster than a 1,000 words. Experiment with a non-imaged "Holocaust" on a new audience of children and see how undisgusted they are compared to those who witness the atrocities.

Don't be angry, frustrated, or emotional in any negative direction because an evil adversary can sense negativity like a predator can sense fear.

Prepare for persecution and possibly Eternal Glory if that's what it takes to wake the human heart for conversion. Forgive your persecutors when they're murdering you because you're telling the Truth--forgiving them gets you into Heaven faster than holding a grudge or desiring revenge.

Know that you will be broken by a supernatural enemy, but don't be ashamed of your weakness. God wants you to try, not to fail, but to try...and He wants you to remember that you can't do it without His help. When your human persecutors see your relationship with God heel even though you've abandoned Him, but under the most extreme of duress, it will exemplify Supernatural Hope...and they may even convert because of your example, the example of Divine Will as a wellspring within the weakness of mere human will.

Seek Forgiveness from God, forgive your persecutors, forgive yourself when you fail, and undo your own lexicon of vocabulary that caters to "surrender", "submission", and any other ambiguous double-meaning word that could make your soul weak to a spirit "not of God". Instead, embrace a non-slave based language of Love. Use words that best describe an intimate Life of Holiness with your Creator like the honor of a soldier's faith of "obedience", and "sacrifice". Yours is a victorious Culture of Life, not a depressed autumn's eve that will know no Spring. Yours is the birthing of Eternal Resurrection, and you're inviting all mankind to His Glorious Party. Sinners like me, refind your Joy in the Salvation He's paid for with His Blood. Fathers and mothers of unborn children are welcome! We'll make it easier for you to become the family God has already blessed you to be!
