Was Hastings actually prosecuted and convicted?

If he is in fact a convicted felon, under the law he would be ineligible for the security clearances necessary to run that committee.

Of course that has never stopped the dems before.

And what was it that Nazi Pelosi was saying about the "Culuture of Corruption"???

Better check her freezer for money, and Hastings too. You will probably find "campaign contributions" from OBL in there.

Thank You again voters for putting the criminal RATS in charge....

If that did happen, I'm sure he would stay in office until the end of his term also.

Well, we did have an impeached president that stayed in office...

Major difference - Clinton was acquitted of the charges. Hastings was actually removed from the bench for taking a bribe.

I'm fuzzy on this, but I think Members of Congress are exempt from security clearance requirements, just like the President is. It comes with the office. However, both Houses have come up with their own requirements for Members accessing, receiving, and using Classified information.

It actually makes sense, theoretically. Members of Congress are the people's representatives. They should have access to all information about government, and should be able to share it with the public. If they want to restrict themselves (via their leadership) that's their business. If Congressmen can't be trusted, who's fault is that?

There isn't much that the Dems can do to make the CIA more pathetic than it already is.

You'd think that after 5 years, they would have reformed that monstrosity, but the ghost of Frank Church still haunts the CIA.

Hastings' district is adjacent to mine...He's a completely despicable excuse for a human being. His constituents are obviously a bunch of morons. And Pelosi is showing her anti-American agenda by appointing him. Expect him to accept bribes in return for giving national security information to our enemies. And nothing will happen to him.

Demoncrats always play by the rules--the ones they make up as they go.

The bad thing about security clearances is that if your job (as an elected official) requires one, you will get it no matter what. Bill Clinton (and his cabinet) was a perfect example of this.

"The Congressional Black Caucus has been pressuring the new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to appoint blacks to key leadership positions and Hastings may benefit from the pressure on the radical left Pelosi.Besides Pelosi isn’t too happy with the ranking committee member, Rep. Jane Harman. Harman’s cooperation with the House Republicans to secure the US angered Pelosi with her San Francisco counterculture mentality."

It just gets better!

"Conyers, who is also black, said he “found no trace of racism during the investigation.” He urged his colleagues to remove Hastings from the bench. He said, “[Hastings] is unfit to serve.”
