How long do you think it will be that we must stay under the thumb of the kind of PCism that posits that all white people are evil, wrong, losers, stupid or otherwise weak and bad?
Apparently Cisco Systems hasn't seen the end of it and that is why, in their TV commercial for their new TelePresence video conferencing system, the white kid loses.
The commercial starts off with a white boy in an obviously American class room staring at the camera. Then cuts to an obvious foreign class room with a little Asian boy doing the same. As the commercial rolls all the children in their two respective classes gather around their intensely staring classmate to see what will happen.
Then the white boy blinks.
The white boy's classmates erupt in a raucous yell, while the classmates of the Asian child jump up in victory because their boy won the staring contest being made possible by the video conference system that can obviously span the globe.
Why is it that the white kid had to lose?
Because Cisco didn't want to be saddled with the claims of "racism" that would be leveled had they allowed the white boy to win, beating an Asian -- a minority, at least here in the USA/West. It didn't want to be picketed and protested for saying an American, white child could win the staring contest in their commercial. We should be sad that Cisco has to be so preventative and we should also mourn for a society that cannot bring itself to say its members could be winners, allowing instead that it be beaten by other cultures at every turn even if it just be in a commercial.
It's a sad thing that we cannot truly become a colorblind society.

I really don't even care which kid won the silly contest in the commercial. But, the problem here is that I spy political correctness. And THAT should be avoided like the plague. Let the Asian kid win, let the white kid win... I don't care. Just don't make the white kid lose just BECAUSE he’s white!

I used to e-mail the advertisers and complain. Every time I complained to the extra-liberal companies like TIA CREF or Progressive Insurance, my mailbox would be overflowing the next day with porn spam. Yet they stereotype again in assuming what sends us into apoplectic shock.
Demolition Man? That was a comedy. And Snipes wasn't REALLY the bad guy, but the evil white patrician who released him was.
How about the ad where they dress some white guys up like neandrathals and they make fun of them? I think it is an insurance ad. I wonder what would happen if they dressed some plack people up as gorillas and made fun of them? That ad would never see the light of day. It is still politically correct to make fun of and laugh at the white male because it is the white males of these cowardly companies who are doing it.

The Andy Griffin Show? Sure it looks like wholesome family entertainment. But why wasn't Aunt Bee married? And what was the story with Floyd the barber? Obviously, the homosexual agenda at work!

I find the casting of the characters in such a calculating fashion to be condescending. I don't see it as the advertisers wanting to appeal to a wide range of people so much as wanting to have all the boxes checked. I'm sure many will differ with me, but I feel that they are trying to maniuplate our desire for "tolerance" with formulaic "visual diversity."
That's my beef.
However this little vignette is indicative of a much larger problem; one that very well may hasten the death of our entire culture. We should address it now.
But then they will go out into a society seething with institutional disdain and hostility towards them and they will have no forewarning. I believe it is better to prepare our youth for the racism that is directed towards them (and to know who exactly is doing the hating). Ignorance of hatred does not make the hatred disappear, FRiend.
Also, I believe it is my duty to speak out whenever I see stuff like this in my daily life. It is how we will regain our culture and our country, by speaking out when you see this nonsense.
My question is, how can the two classes be meeting at the same time? If it's school time in the U.S., it's the middle of the night in East Asia...
Where would we go? The deserts and badlands of North America?
I've seen plenty with one white, one black, one Asian and one Hispanic child. I'm sure people look at that and say, "That's fair." But whites make up more than 1/4 of the population! So when a white child actor is up for a role, he has a lot more competition for the same amount of slots. I live in LA and have known people who tried to put their kids in show business. For the white kids, it's always a struggle to get roles, while the minority kids get snapped right up. A black woman I know brings her son to open casting calls and the casting agents fight each other over which one will get to represent him. He's not exceptionally cute or talented, not any more than the white kids I know who go on auditions.
Anyway, not the end of the world, but just one more area where things seem to be a lot easier for nonwhites.
Yup. White kid is always the dork. The husband is always goofier than the wife. It's the whole PC wave. It used to bug me, but after Tuesday I've pretty much given up. Stick a fork in us; we're done.
no, but one commercial that bucked the trend was the VW "unpimp your ride" series.
I've noticed the behavior being discussed on this thread for years. I once did an analysis of commercials in exactly the way it was described above, with winners/losers, and the demographics of each. The results were stunning.
If one of the characters was a white male, the chances of him beng the "winner" of any particular situation was vanishingly small, somewhere in the less than 3%, and was even lower if he were not "tied" to another character.
Commercials are a really distorted lens through which to look at the world.
So what would they do if they had a black kid from Africa in his school uniform stare down a wanna be punk fatherless inner city african american youth with his underwear hanging out, gold chains and his ballcap on crooked?
Honestly who cares who did what in a commercial??
You must hate those Red Stripe commercials.
