I think we have much bigger fish to fry than this.
Exactly. Pick your battles.
The American kid let the Asian kid win so the Asian kid wouldn't lose face in front of his classmates and tell his dad to not buy US 10 year notes at the auction next week. Get used to it.
We do have bigger fish to fry, but this sort of thing provides the breading for said fish.
Bah, it's like that in all media. The white guy is always the uncool, dorky, uptight, etc. and the black guy is always cool. Just the way it goes.
I was watching a Comedy Central show featuring Canadian and American aboriginals last night. At least two of the acts were dominated by racist jokes and stereotypes against white people. All perfectly acceptable and funded by our gov't. I switched off after the second one. No other races were attacked except caucasians.
Oh yeah, and add in a healthy dose of American and George Bush bashing.
"Am I being too sensitive?"
Ya think?
I saw the ad, and was wondering what was the reason for having the device in the classroom to begin with.
Beat us today, work for us tomorrow.
Too sensitive? No fricking way. I LOVE analyzing commercials for this kind of thing. How about the "stolen credit card/stolen identity" commercials where you get a woman's voice coming from a man or vice versa? You know, you got a black weight lifter in a gym and as he speaks a STUPID WHITE VALLEY GIRL voice comes out of his mouth saying how great her new push-up bra is. In each and every single commercial the thief was obviously white (valley girl, NASCAR redneck, Monster truck redneck, etc.)and the victim was, quite often black. Loved it. You get a lot of PC in kid's cartoons, too. I have 2 little ones. My favorite is Arthur. 1. The mega-competitive, foaming at the mouth competitive as a matter of fact, super-athlete is a JEWISH GIRL. She outplays everybody in every sport. She is also poor, and her father is a garbage man. 2. The genius of the show, nicknamed "The Brain" has intellect and ability comparable to Einstein and he is black. But the corker is the rich kid. Notice how the show strives to break ALL the stereotypes -- but not when it comes to the wealthy. The super-rich family is WHITE as can be (the father's voice is a perfect copy of Eddie Murphy doing the hilariously "dorky white guy" voice" and is also composed of cheating, fraudulent, crooks who made their money selling crappy used cars while wearing loud, green, checkered suits. Gotta love it.
And don't forget, all of the evil doers are officers and men in uniform, or, sin of all sins.........REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS!!! And they say Hollywierd ain't anti-government or anti-military. Ha!
That's what all Chinese and Indian parents are teaching their kids about Americans...Let's hope there are more out there will more sense.

O come on ..a staring contest over a video conference system ?
Your telling me a white American kid can't win a "staring at TV" contest !?
The Wall St Journal just had an article on Asians being admitted to top schools. The number is much higher than the number of Asians in the general population -- so demographics in top schools are disproportionately Asian. But the situation is not what you think!
Turns out, based on achievements and test score, Asians are being discriminated against. Schools actually raise the bar for Asian applicants, in an effort to keep their numbers "within reason". The WSJ had a chart:
Number of people going to college -- going up.
Number of Hispanics going to college -- going up.
Number of Blacks going to college -- going up.
Number of Asians going to college -- FLAT AS A BOARD.
Racism is alive and well. It's being used to keep Asians down. And why is that? To protect the feelings of other demographic groups which -- uh -- don't seem to do so well with a level playing field.
