Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), "in line to become Speaker in January, is throwing her support to Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) in the race for Majority Leader, a move that will be an early test of her influence and will weigh heavily on Murtha's contest with Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) for the post," Roll Call reports.
"Pelosi, in a letter distributed Sunday to newly elected House Democrats, wrote that Murtha's outspoken opposition to the war in Iraq helped change the electoral campaign for the House this fall."
The Hill: "Her endorsement has the potential to turn the race, especially if she chooses to campaign on Murthas behalf. Pelosis decision to back Murtha is the most significant move she has made since Democrats scored a historic victory on Election Day."

"I worry about a slow withdrawal which makes it look like there's a victory..." John Murtha, January 6, 2006 http://www.opinionjournal.com/best/?id=110007779 If this was said at a town meeting, surely there is video of that. I would think that would be devastating. Too bad Irey didn't have that in her campaign, or if she did, what is with the loons in that district?

Thanks for the link! I loved this quote from Hoyer...
"Nancy told me some time ago that she would personally support Jack. I respect her decision as the two are very close," Hoyer said in a statement. "I am grateful for the support I have from my colleagues, and have the majority of the caucus supporting me. I look forward to working with Speaker Pelosi as Majority Leader."

I don't know where he is on the issue today, but a few years back - after the Dems began to peel away for support of the war - I dropped a dime on Steny and thanked him for backing the President and supporting our troops. I appreceated his support regardless of the fact that I disagreed with him on every other policy issue.
He sent me a nice note back with a thank you. Hoyer is smart (intelligence-wise) and politically, as well,
Murtha is a big step to the left for the folks who have promised to work in the true spirit of bipartisanship. Hey, how's that Bolton nomination coming along, anyway??

Pelosis endorsement letter came in response to a written request from Murtha.LOL! That does sound a little like desperation. Thanks for the link.

The true, ugly face of the democrats just might emerge!
Yeah, it would be nice for the uninformed voter mush in the middle to see what the Democrats are really about... huge price to pay, though :-(

Things will go down quick once the bozos go into full gear. There should be no doubt they really do plan on doing their worst yet. So many years of grinding and knashing their teeth.
The Iraqi SASO will not get the funding it needs to sustain plans to fully equipe and train the Iraqi over the next two years or so if the demos can pursuade enough RINOs to help them cut off funds. We may see reductions simply because monies will not be provided to keep the current number of troops and support in Iraq proper and it's support groups and bases in Kuwait, Bahrian, Qater etc..
Expect the worse. And operations in Afghanistan may be just as hampered. In short. Expect them to bring our troops home.
And expect the slice of the pie for military expenditures to further diminish and the social program pie to increase.

This Murtha guy is not better than a murderer and cut-throat, and Hoyer is worse.
Lot of choice there Democrats ~ real men of the people ~ more like AlQaida than Americans.

I think that Jack Murtha's brother is in trouble with the authorities for some business dealings...and I think I read that Murtha has some business dealings with Pelosi, away from Congress...
