Pelosi Backs Murtha for Majority Leader
Political Wire ^ | November 12, 2006 | Taegan Goddard

Posted on 11/12/2006 4:44:13 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), "in line to become Speaker in January, is throwing her support to Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) in the race for Majority Leader, a move that will be an early test of her influence and will weigh heavily on Murtha's contest with Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) for the post," Roll Call reports.

"Pelosi, in a letter distributed Sunday to newly elected House Democrats, wrote that Murtha's outspoken opposition to the war in Iraq helped change the electoral campaign for the House this fall."

The Hill: "Her endorsement has the potential to turn the race, especially if she chooses to campaign on Murtha’s behalf. Pelosi’s decision to back Murtha is the most significant move she has made since Democrats scored a historic victory on Election Day."

It was a sad day for this country...when the bunch of kooks that lead the Dem Party became the MAJORITY in the House and Senate.

It is just going to get sadder and sadder...but, we MUST not give in to despair...we must mount an offense that will make sure this doesn't happen in 2008...and for SURE that the next POTUS is a Republican.

I have a feeling at least ONE of them, Ellison may change his mind..if Murtha is the leader of choice by the CBC.

Since Conyers has a website in Arabic for the Muslim Caucus...and I am pretty sure the CBS would be for Murtha, and getting the troops out of his constituents' country.

Seems like a good thread to mention DogMurtha.com. It was set up by a freeper/veteran who's dedicated to dogging Murtha until he recants.

Maybe I'm crazy, but this stupid move by Pelosi makes me more optimistic than I have been since Tuesday night.

Americans don't like extremists, and they were too stupid to know that that's exactly what they voted for.

But Pelosi is making sure with this move that more people know what a bad day November 7th was for America.

I may be wrong, but I'm encouraged by this move.

ah...very good.

Thanks for letting me know...I didn't know if it was continuing after the election.

I hope the freeper/veteran has patience...because if Murtha is made Majority Leader, he will be untouchable.

Only GOP Majority Leaders, like Tom Delay are ever wrong..doncha know?

Hoyer is much more popular with the Dem caucus than Murtha. Pelosi is going out on a limb here. She obviously aims to rule the caucus with an iron hand and have them bend to her will on every issue. It's going to be interesting to see whether she gets Murtha in and demonstrates her power or whether the caucus rebuffs her and goes with Hoyer, in which case she's off to a blundering, dim-witted start.

Yes...I must say that I am too.

I am also crossing my fingers that she chooses Alcee Hastings for the Intelligence Committee...because there should be HOWLS from the White House even, over that one.

How can they give TOP SECRET classified clearance to a man that was impeached and removed from a judgeship for bribery?? I am just hoping she will try it!!

Delicious.

"" Yeah, put a traitor in charge...this country is going to hell in a hand basket!""

No kidding. To put that traitor in charge is absolutely unbelievable. He's the enemy of our troops.

May God in heaven help us all!!!

I hope they find every extremist in their rotten party and parade them in front of the American people.

I hope that Joe Main Street soon begins to see what a disastrous decision change for the sake of change made in abject ignorance really is.

You know...whenever I would hear a candidate say that Americans want "a change in direction"...I would scratch my head and wonder what direction is better than victory over our enemies...and the unemployment on a downward curve..and the Stock Market on an upward curve???

It makes perfect sense. The house has to match the Senate. With Turbin Durbin (our troops are Nazi's) as the number two in the Seante, Nancy has to have her number two Murtha (our marines murder these civilians in cold blood) be Turbin Durbin's equivalent. Oh those Democrats -- the hate and malign our troops crowd need to be in leadership positions! It will be great if he gets in there, the blue dog dems should go balistic over this, hopefully. Cat fight coming up in the house! Yippee!!!!

** "I hope the freeper/veteran has patience...because if Murtha is made Majority Leader, he will be untouchable." **

I think you're right. The LMSM will be behind him all the way. Soros is the real winner and it makes me sick.

I just hope America can survive this bunch of traitors. The average American will never hear the truth from the media about their corruption. The news just gets sadder and sadder. The rats really didn't win by that much, but the damage they could do could last for a lifetime.

Oh well, guess I should try and be positive. ;)

Someone I know used that very phrase - we need a change - , when she told me she voted a straight Rat ticket, for the first time ever. I thought to myself, you IDIOT!!!!

It was Tuesday night when I ran into her in a public place. I was too upset by the results to even consider getting into the insanity of her remark. So I just said, nice seeing ya. ;)

I have been trying find something positive..

But, I think all we need to do...is sit and watch the Dems screw it up..

And as they do their share...we will be working to find good candidates that will beat the dems in 2008.

Some freepers are really ready to find someway to make SURE that the mistakes of the Dems is exposed somehow..even though it will be hard...because the MSM is so intent on keeping them in power.

**Pelosi Backs Murtha for Majority Leader**

Is the honeymooon over, Nancy? Not a smart move at all.

It's Pelosi's fault!

I get your point about it being an internal struggle and that it has very little to do with electoral strategy or the White House, etc.

The problem is that Murtha is perhaps one of the least intelligent members in the House, period, and he has historically had corruption problems. He is not a "fresh face", to put it mildly.

In addition, you know, as well as I do, the history of House majority leaders over the past 15-20 years, especially the ones that attempt to create a public face for themselves. Nearly all of them are out of Congress in under 5 years.

Conflict is often good for leadership, blind loyalty and subservience often destroys coalitions. We should a little about that watching the executive over the past 3 years.

I think it's a bad start for Democrats for these reasons, but it remains to be seen whether this will be a fatal flaw in their takeover.
