The difference in WWII is that the American people didn't forget Pearl Harbor.

No one has forgotten 9-11 either. The difference is that FDR went to war with the country mobilized. W didn't.

As for Vietnam - - that was all LBJ's and McNamara's war and we should not have ever gone past the advisor phase.

W took a completely opposite tact and demobilized the nation. Heaven knows the nation was mobilized and awaiting word on how best to assist. The instruction given was ... go shopping!
