All the dems had to do was roll one of the GOP members, which they have already done repeatedly with O'Connor on the court. Simpson is suspect, too.

Ultimately this comes down to President Bush, this isn't the first time he has allowed some suspect names onto panels only to then get burned.

Maybe...but have you noticed that one of the pet complaints by the Dems is...that he hasn't implemented ALL of the 9/11 Commission's recommendations.

Yes...he let them have their dog and pony show...and yes, he even signed a bill to create the Homeland Security Dept..which was one recommendation.

However, that fact that the dems are still complaining proves to me...that he isn't going to go against his best interests (America's)...just to appease some bi-partisan panel that just is seeking some kind of relevance.
