Read about how and why the GOP is proclaiming the diversity mantra and siding with those promoting racial preferences. Warning to Caucasians and Asians - you don't really take the U.S.Constitution seriously, do you?

How very sad. It would appear that the RNC has become the DNC of 20 years ago.

The RINOs (who run the GOP in Michigan) probably are holding out hope for educated houseboys.
I wouldn't take their whining seriously.

When Jim Talent was running again for Senate, I didn't like that he had his "African Americans for Talent" and "Hispanics for Talent," etc., coalitions. Why do we need these categories? He had coalitions divided up by occupation too, but that made a little more sense. We really just needed more "Missourians for Talent!"

True. I don't recall hearing about any "Whitey's for Steele" campaign.

To T.L.Sink: Wow. That is a great column. Thank you for posting it.
To ALL: It is definitely worthwhile to read the whole column.
The cowardice of the Republican party is finally killing it. If there is one common denominator from nearly all of the election day post mortems I have read here it is that the Republican party is in desperate need of new, bold leadership. If a lot more of the same old same olds need to be tossed aside, then so be it.

Looks to me like the 58% of voters that passed the anti-affirmative action measure in Michigan have an opportunity for reform of the Michigan GOP; if they will get active now and do it.

The scumbag Democrat in these parts used the old "Republicans for Murphy" trick.
Talent should have just stuck with a generic "American Democrats for Talent" mantra.

Affirmative actions jobs were supposed to see that black people who werent getting hired because of standards they could not reach, were hired anyway. These standards were lowered to allow for their getting hired. It was done under the guise of fairness, but was it really fair? Was it fair to take jobs from people who were more qualified to do them and give these jobs to those less qualified?
We could argue that. But lets go on. This was meant to be a temporary thing, as blacks were integrated into schools and jobs, their standards of living were assumed to be raised and their education opportunities would make it unnecessary to continue affirmative action. It was assumed that one day affirmative action would not be required.
That was many years ago, and so far it still hasnt worked. Affirmative action is still required in jobs, and in colleges. Now I am fair, I say thats fine, but much like the war in Iraq that Democrats keep screaming for a date to leave, we need a date when affirmative action ceases.
A date when the best qualified get work no matter what color they are. When the best students go to schools no matter what color they are. Some day affirmative action has to stop, or it stops becoming affirmative action and becomes a stench. IMO it has just about reached that point.

"Led by its candidates for governor and U.S. Senator, the state GOP has emphatically distanced itself from the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative."
In Michigan, the Michigan Civil Rights Imitative (ban on affirmative action won and all the the GOP lost all the statewide races.
That's the problem with today's GOP, it's afraid to take a stand.

In Michigan, ....the GOP lost all the statewide races.Actually there were no statewide sitting GOP losses to dems. The dems were re-elected, big difference. We did lose a few state house seats though.

I'm just thrilled that I got my way on 4 of the ballot proposals and managed to put conservative Tim Walberg in the US house.

Yep, and many here on FR were getting boners over Affirmative Action supporter Michael Steele, as chairman of the RNC.

The RNC had better be very careful. Michigan just voted to amend their States Constitution to end racial preferences, and quotas. The wording in the amendment to the Constitution was taken directly from the 1964 civil rights act.
Five minutes after the amendment won with over whelming support of the people in Michigan, the liberal socialist democrats from Michigan State University filed a lawsuit in a veiled attempt to get a liberal judge to throw out the people's decision!
Is this the side the RNC wants to take against the clear majority? If so, they will see themselves out of power for a very very long time! We lost the last election, due in part to the RINO's who thought it was sooooooo leftist to move to the center on issues with the democrat liberals, (gang of 14, defeat of the marriage protection amendment,) only to find that they (the RNC) alienated their base, and the moderates who normally supported them, which resulted in losing power in both houses only after 12 years.

Can't wait to see our constitution be ruled unconstitutional.
