Two days after losing a bid for a second term, Sen. Lincoln Chafee said he was unsure whether he would remain a Republican.

Chafee lost to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse in a race seen as a referendum on President Bush and the GOP. On Thursday, he was asked whether he would stick with the Republican Party or become an independent or Democrat.

As long as he's changing parties, he might as well get that sex change operation he's been wanting at the same time. Make it a double whacking, so to speak.

This guy is in denial. His political career is OVER. He's just a citizen now. Lincoln Chafee a DEMOCRAT? Stop the presses. Extray edition. Read all about it.

Please Leave Tomorrow, so we can get Bolton out of committee.

In fact, let's throw him out of the party, because he said he wanted to leave, so we can get Bolton out of committee.

Speaking of shoeing horses. Wasn't the gin soaked raisin lady's son running for office from Pennsylvania.

Why there are 2 democratic senators in ND is beyond me.

Why there are 2 democratic senators in MT is beyond me.

Those should be 4 solid Republican seats, no RINOS necessary.

"But starting with the Nixon election of 1968 a realignment of both parties started."

You raise and interesting point, but I disagree with your interpretation. The party realignment was started by the DemocRats after the 1968 election, and resulted in the far left taking over the 'Rat nominiation process. This resulted in McGovern's nomination, but it also resulted in conservative DemocRats feeling they had a home no longer and moving to the Republican Party.

Now we are to the point where the DemocRats purely represent the party of treason, and the only "moderates" that will vote for them are brain dead victims of the culture war. Real conservatives, who demonstrate loyalty and enthusiasm for conservative principles, will attract more moderates than than RINO-like vacillators with their fingers in the wind. Or elsewhere.

We need real conservatives.

Typical smarmy low life politician. He stays a Pub as long as they're in power; and gets the benefits thereof. I am sure he would have flipped if he had won office too. Didn't see a little problem, called: getting booted out of office..

Loser.

Sen. Chafee has badly overestimated my level of interest in his future plans.

I will plagiarize that line. Often.

" Didn't he use to shoe horses before becoming a senator?"

He did.

" After Brown, Lincoln Chafee attended the Montana State University horseshoeing school in Bozeman.
For the next seven years he worked as a blacksmith at harness racetracks in the United States and Canada.
One of the horses he shod, Overburden, set the track record at Northlands Park in Edmonton, Alberta."
