More on Conyers- the Khaled ElGindy mentioned below is closely related to Anthony Elgindy, a person who did some creative stock trading before 9/11. The ElGindy family was actively involved in the Balkans and in bringing immigrants to this country from the region - I suspect some of those immigrants handpicked for the move are hostile. One of the Elgindy's worked for the State Department; one of them ran a sort of crude travel service for Hajj pilgrims heading to Mecca. There's tons of material on the family in FR's archives.

In July, the Arab American Institute (AAI) sponsored a similar congressional briefing, at which Khaled Elgindy of the AAI showed slides of his visit to Iraq and Carl LeVan of Representative Conyers’ office described the letter in detail and urged the staff members in attendance to encourage their congressmen to sign on. Abdulrahman Alamoudi was the guy running money to Libya from Syria, who apparently has some relationship- perhaps remote, perhaps not- to another Alamoudi who owns the building in which Joseph Wilson, former ambassador to Gabon [spouse of wannabe "deep cover" CIA "spy" Valerie Plame]bases his Rock Creek Corp biz.

Sami Al Arian is the guy whose kid, a Democrat congressman David Bonior or was it McDermott staffer, was tossed out of the Bush White House complex by the secret service in the summer of 2001...

An effort to placate the group to which the al Arian kid belonged with a job offer for a muslim from a White House staffer & Clinton Clingon by the name of DiUlio appears to have ended up with the resignation of DiUlio.

Back to Elgindy- Khaled Elgindy is an advocate of the Holy Land Foundation and is also related to Anthony Elgindy, aka Amr I Elgindy, the stock investor who pulled a ton of funds out of the market on Sept 10...

After leaving the FBI, Royer continued to get confidential information by contacting Lynn Wingate, 34, an FBI agent. Wingate has been charged with passing along confidential information. By cooperating with a Federal judge during the summer of 2002, Tony was released on bail to home detention in San Diego. A prominent poster at the site was "ParanoiaTango" to whom equally prominent SalemsHex 12 posted a cryptic message. The points conveyed: "Prepare to lose operatives. Your gas masks are no defense against our silver bullets. Move to secure red phone."
Not long after the message was posted, Tony Elgindy called his securities broker who oversees Tony's long term investments for a trust he created for his children. He directed that all of the stocks in the portfolio be liquidated that day (Sept. 10, 2001), and said the Dow was going to crash. This is what prompted the broker to notify the FBI, portfolio liquidation of long term investments, not his short-selling in GenesisIntermedia. The message was there at the AZNT
thread for everyone to see but was removed at some point. True to form, Salem re-posted the message not long after Tony's release on bail at the resurrected Amazon Natural Treasures thread and following this, delivered a sincere apology for the slip by way of a message posted to Anthony@Equity.
Cryptic messages warning of the attack were therefore being posted for people possibly in the know at securities sites. Some 34 indictments related to the Elgindy matter remain under seal in the Eastern District of New York (Brooklyn).
The Elgindy trial on charges of racketeering (running a short selling ring based on inside information from the FBI) is scheduled to begin October 4, 2004. Look for coverage by the "Wall Street Journal" as Elgindy was a key character in John Emshwiller's "Scam Dogs and Momo Mamas" about the world of message boards, online trading in penny stocks, and short sellers.
