In essence, it could get better or it could kick us in the groan eight more times.

"Rep. Barbara Cubin, who threatened to slap her wheelchair-bound Libertarian opponent after a debate, i"
Huh. Never heard that. Talk about a lack of political instincts.

Wonder if the whole story is there, or if the MSM happened to miss some important points.

I am with you! Not counting until after the Ohio State -Michigan game makes zero sense. What does a game a week away have to do with the election?

"Yes, there were 250,000 provisional and mail in ballots to be counted."
That's the total for all of Maricopa County, I believe. A portion of that is from the 5th CD; J.D. believes that is is around 100,000 of them.

Verifying or invalidating 9000 provisional ballots is likely to be a very time consuming task, and will likely require the help of a lot of volunteers, which are a lot harder to come by during the celebration that surrounds the OSU-Micigan game.
However, you might get people interested in getting this done quickly if there were much of a chance that the provisional ballots would change the result.
Pryce has a 3536 vote lead before these provisional ballots are validated and counted. If they are all valid, her opponent would need over 2/3 of them to go their way.
However if only 80% are valid, which is about average when I looked at 2004 numbers, there would be 7200 votes not yet counted.
Her opponent would need approximately 75% of the provisional ballots to go his way.
Considering how unlikely that is, I don't see a lot of urgency.
They can things organized, line up their volunteers, and hammer out the ground rules for those who want to observe the process, and then get started with going through the provisional ballots on the 18th.

If Republicans win all of these contested races, it won't change anything. Republican leadership was nonexistent. House Speaker Dennis Hassert and Bill Frist in the Senate were completely impotent and unable to mobilize their forces even with total control of both houses and the White House. They deserve to lose.
The terrorist war and immigration were the two issues that turned Republicans out.
Democrats are a party in decline and will do even worse, but people had nowhere else to turn.

When a liberal bill is up for a vote, Pelosi will allow conservative Democrats to vote against the legislation as long as it doesn't jeopardize actual passage of the bill. This is so the conservative Democrats can campaign for re-election as conservatives.
Every seat the Republicans gain is one less seat the conservative Democrats can use to vote against their own party.

So they would have but didn't so we should count them as they did. My head is spinning. Florida is just about the dumest bunch of folks, who probably voted absentee in NY as well as voting in FL.

The dems love their crooks and charlatans. To say nothing of their whoremongering ex President.
We had clean candidates who lost.

In the Columbus, Ohio- area, elections officials are delaying the count of more than 9,000 provisional ballots by one day so it doesn't disrupt the much-vaulted [vaunted?]
Ohio State-Michigan football game on Nov. 18. O god of sports, we bow at thine altar.

Next thing ya know, the Florida dems will be calling for a commission to elect people to represent them -- you know, the educated class voting in the rep's because the people just aren't up to it.

Libel rules are different for public people.
That's how Pelosi can others can publicly call Bush "stupid".

What in the world is wrong in Florida. These people can manage ten bingo cards at a time but they can't vote.
