"information about concepts of healthy sexuality; sexuality orientation and tolerance; risks of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancy;

These people are nuts!!! This is what has contributed to unwanted pregnancies and HIV....more sex education is redundant – it didn’t work the first time around – ABSTANANCE is the only answer.

My advice: Parents, if you don't want this sort of thing taught in your school, you had better start rounding up as many parents as you can and make it very clear to the school boards and the teachers - or take you children out of those schools and home school or put them in a safe private school. It is the funding they want to keep those classes going. NO to FUNDING!

Moonbats masquerading as health professionals.

Okay, there's a new one on me. I thought that advocating a pullout and a reacharound at the same time was advocating a physical impossibility.

in actual practice, abstinence often fails,

It's not a failure OF abstinence, it's a failure TO PRACTICE abstinence.

"Holding its four-day 134th annual gathering, the APHA called "for the immediate initiation of the safe withdrawal of U.S. armed forces from Iraq accompanied by the deployment of U.N. peacekeeping troops in areas of high risk for inter-ethnic conflict or civil war."

FFS do these idiots seriously think the terrorists care if the troops are wearing US Army insignia or UN insignia? Besides, last time I checked the countires supply the majority of forces for UN missions were.. The US and the UK. Gee wiz, problem solved.

"The association notes that while abstinence from sexual intercourse is theoretically fully protective against pregnancy and disease, in actual practice, abstinence often fails, leaving students unequipped to prevent unintended pregnancies and protect themselves from sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other consequences," the group said.

In recorded human history, I believe abstinence has "failed" exactly once. We celebrate that "failure" at Christmastime.

I am a public health professional, but I refuse to be a part of this national group or the one in my state (Arizona). Public Health is overrun with liberals, who will seize on the slimmest pretext to take a position on a purely social issue.

As an example, they oppose any same-sex marriage ban, on the pretext that "it will make it harder for a state to attract qualified job applicants, thus impacting a state's abillity to protect the public's health".

I'm in the "hard science" side of Public Health, doing environmental health work, disaster reponse, and Homeland Security planning.

They also want a government takeover of health care. It is on their website.

Another institutional takeover of what used to be a worthwhile organization by the loony hard left.

As far as ending abstinence-only education, I think the crap on the teevee shows kids that our popular celebrities (most of which make it impossible for me to call them musicians or artists, with a few exceptions) are hopping from bed to bed like fleas, with no apparent consequences.

I'm sure it's not lost on many kids that K-Fed (dba Fed-Ex in the near future) was financially rewarded both when he left his pregnant-with-his-second-child girlfriend for Britney Spears AND now that she's divorcing him.
