Pelosi Says Iraq Is Not "a War To Win"
Bottom Line Up Front ^ | 11/09/06 | Amy Procttor

Posted on 11/10/2006 6:57:10 AM PST by Col. Bob

Nancy Pelosi was interviewed on Fox Report tonight and asked what her plan for victory in Iraq would look like. After a few seconds of stammering, the obvious awkward moment ended. Here's Nancy Pelosi on defining victory in Iraq:

“The point is this isn’t a war to win, it’s a situation to solve. And you define ‘winning’ any way you want, but you must solve this problem.”

"This isn't a war to win"? This is the next SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES? We're doomed.

See the video on Amy's URL:

Discover the Network put it this way:

"Bipartisanship" has been a keyword in many of Pelosi's speeches. In an address she delivered in 2002, for instance, she remarked, "We must stand together in a bipartisan way to fight the war against terrorism." Though she supported the Clinton Administration's military actions in Haiti, Kosovo, and Bosnia, she has denounced both the 1991 and 2003 wars in Iraq. Pelosi has also opposed President George W. Bush on most issues of Homeland Security, and has most recently joined the ACLU's crusade to limit the powers of the Patriot Act.

Hypocrisy anyone?

Good point. I'm in LA. After 9/11, the studios all beefed up security - which I found laughable. Hollywood is Osama's best friend and primary propaganda tool.

If they keep on the way they are going, they have more to fear from loyal Americans than they do from Osama. Maybe that's why they beefed up security!

But one must never forget that the Islamic A$$hat is often as eager to attack his friend as his enemy. Several of the 9/11 hijackers listed the US intervention in Kosovo as one of their motivations in attacking the US. We intervened in Kosovo to defend Muslim (Radicals, Expansionists, Terrorists, Nationalists, Poor Innocent Little Victims -- pick one). For our trouble on their behalf, we got airplanes driven into our skyscrapers.

Well, yes, better someone who is incompetent than someone from the competition who wants to kill you.

Your comment is a good example of the "pre 9/11" mindset.

We should be beyond that.

You are a fool

Personal attacks, Mo1?

Why sink to that level? That makes you no better than the Clintons with their slash and burn, scorched earth, character assassinations.

It says that you can't debate the issues, so you attack the person.

That is disappointing.

If Bush plays his cards right, he could end up squeezing the moonbats out of power in the Rat party, and move the party back towards the center. And that would be a good thing. It was a better country when you didn't have to question the patriotism of members of the other party, and maybe a silver lining out of this election is that it gets us back to that point before the moonbats took over the Rat party in the 70s.

Democrats do not take this war on terror seriously

Of course they don't! Their highest priority right now is rasing the minimum wage!

You just don't see that kind of passion about conservatism from today's Republican politicians.

We should be very suspicious of anybody claiming to be a conservative who is interested in remaining in Washington for more than a few years. We should try to be the party of young blood and fresh faces. Once a Republican gets past his Pull Date, he should be removed and replaced with somebody new.

Good morning America - meet your new Speaker of the House!

I knew the Dems would mess this up but I thought they wouldn't do it until January.

[Wrong, Rove and GOP, they did--and they left a sign: Gone Fishing!.]

The base held their nose and voted, we lost the center, who while conservative, are not opposed to voting Democratic.

Stupid people voted for stupid people.

Perhaps some voters are 'stupid', but don't disparage voters for casting their votes the way they want. That is their right. Just because they didn't vote the way you want does not mean they are stupid or they have no right to vote.

Their votes are just as valid as your vote was. And, since they won, there were more agreeing with them than with you. That is how our electoral process works.

The biggest problem of all that I see with the GOP and it's an issue that is rarely touched upon, is that they are not doing a good job of maintaining their farm system. Case in point, while everyone assumes Texas is GOP Country, there are no longer any Republicans holding office in Dallas County. State and local level politicians are where the talent is developed and if you don't have talent waiting in the pipeline, it's very hard to constantly replace people in Washington. The party has been ignoring this in recent years, and I'm afraid that this is going to be our biggest problem in upcoming elections.

My whole problem with the President right now his the guest worker prgram. Amensty to the illegals means 12 million votes for the democrats. And forget about losing the war on terror. The democrats will destroy this nation.
If he wants a guest worker program, the illegals must never be allowed to become citizens. We need some conservative senators to draw a line in the sand and threaten to filibuster if illegals are allowed to become citizens.

The good economic numbers made the whole immigration thing, but a small blip on the radar screen this particular election cycle. At this point, a hardline on immigration is a net loser. That very well could change depending on what happens with the economy, but right now, it's not a winning issue for the GOP.

Yep , either you fight all out in a war or don't bother . I thought we figured that out in Vietnam . If you're going to fight , everybody has to be killed , everything has to be blown to pieces . You have to bring the enemy to his knees crying , he must be afraid to even think of you . That's how we won Germany in WW2. There is NO other way .

It sure as hell isn't a winning issue if 12 million illegals become citizens and have the right to vote.

Agreed. Don't know if we can get a secular democracy in Iraq, however. IAC, Pelosi is under the delusion that we have a "poblem." Now that is like treating a pregnancy as a "problem." What we have is a situation, which involves a whole plethora of problems. most of which have no been defined so far. Right now we are into the process of definition.
