My initial impression is that President Bush traded Rumsfeld for a guarantee against impeachment as well as promising a sweet amnesty deal.

I guess those Republicans who withheld their votes sure showed the rest of us, didn't they? :(

What foolish, shallow people we have in this country. Anyone who gets their "news" from late night comedians should not even be allowed to vote.

Fascinating Analysis of Leftist Goals, August 13, 2006

Reviewer: N. Sincerity - See all my reviews

A former 1960s radical, Horowitz is well-acquainted with the Leftist mindset. In this book, he strives to explain the modern alliance between left wing progressivists and radical Islamofascists. He argues that this alliance is based on a common desire to destroy Western capitalism. Leftist sympathy with Islamofascist ideas makes no sense from an intellectual point of view, given that countries ruled by radical Islamists are among the most racist, sexist, theocratic states in the world today. However, Leftists have recognized that they can benefit politically from destructive terrorist attacks on the Western world. A West under attack can be made to turn on its leaders in fear and desperation (as they did in Spain after the Madrid train bombings). Only once people reject current government structures can the Left execute its anti-capitalist revolution and build a new reality that mirrors the Leftist view of utopia. The complete and utter idealogical hypocrisy of the Islamofascist-Leftist alliance is distressing, but as Horowitz reminds us, Leftists radicals truly believe the ends justify the means.

Unless I've missed a very serious change to the US Constitution, we have a "free press" here. They say and print what they want to. We "control" them by "consuming" what they put out there.

If we don't "consume" (that is: pay for print/electronic media forms), they don't have a market and will eventually go out of business.

We can't deport them because we don't believe in what they "preach" - tho truth be told, it is how I feel sometimes.

What we need is true, strong and supported competition for the ones with whom we don't agree.

As to censorship...well, we're really not in a war (crazy isn't it!). Congress never declared war on anyone. Only the president. And he declared "war" on terrorism - not terrorists. A neat trick of rhetoric, but with no constitutional validity.

No declared war - no ability to censor the press.

If I understand their culture well enough, so do those responsible for waging the war. It's not hard to figure out. We just aren't 'allowed' to win. For whatever reason.

I don't think any of us...including our political leadership...really understands them well enough. As to being "allowed to win"...that really is a problem for the American people.

My fear is that it will take many more "home grown" American deaths (read: effective terrorist attacks here in the US) before the current and upcoming political leadership finds the courage to do what needs doing.

In the meantime, our enemies continue with "one man, one mission" tactics against which a large "standing army" is largely ineffective.

As Linda Elery said, "And so it goes."
