Everyone who thinks that Libertarian voters would have broken for us strongly enough for Burns to have won should remember that this election was largely about foreign and defense policy. While Libertarians agree with us on economic issues, they tend to be isolationist, and unless a particular Libertarian has managed to absorb Sun Tzu and Clausewitz, tend not to think in terms of offensive war as a proper part of defense. They might well have voted for Tester or stayed home if one of their own wasn't on the ballot.
If you can find enough Republicans who voted for Jones as a protest vote that their support would have carried the day, trash them all you want.
I for one would welcome the day when the Libertarians are our main opposition party.
Thread over. You win!
Same here, but with them alternating as the majority party.
I'd say we more lean toward you on economics. Do you want to...
1. Abolish the income tax.
2. Abolish the Fed Reserve and go back to gold.
3. Abolish public schools (most of us would accept vouchers for now.)
4. Abolish the FDA, EPA, BATF, and the rest of the alphabet soup.
5. Sell off ALL federal land that isn't currently a military base or has a building on top of it.
6. Separate the government from economics like the separation between church and state.
Those are just the crucial basics. Please PLEASE don't confuse libertarians with the LP, I don't confuse conservatives with the GOP so I expect the same from you. On the military side I'm very strong on defense but Bush did f up Iraq. He should have invaded then pulled out of the cities and carpet bomb any resistance. He should have then nuked Fallujah as an example when it flared up. I'd leave N. Korea to the S. Koreans who can more then handle them and I'd make sure the world knows the nuclear shield is in place (in case Fallujah didn't rub in).
That's libertarian to me, but then again I am an objectivist.
That will happen when a) the LP ceases to nominate fruitloops for office; b) starts saying sensible things a about foreign affairs. I don't see any chance of it happening.
