President Bush welcomed Mexico's President-elect, Felipe Calderon, to the White House.
He honored the 2006 National Humanities Medal and the 2006 National Medal of Arts recipients in the Oval.
After breakfasting with the GOP leadership of Congress, and meeting with his cabinet, Bush, with his Cabinet behind him, addressed the press in the Rose Garden.
Showing the quality of statesmanship needed at such a time, he met with Congr. Pelosi and Congr. Hoyer in the Oval.
The National Review and Reuters are reporting that the WH sent (recess appointment) UN Ambassador John Bolton's nomination to the US Senate, for a vote.

QUOTE: "I have made it very clear to the President-elect that Mexico is a priority of this administration. ... I assured him that we will work very closely together. We talked about trade. We talked about mutual interests, fighting drugs, and we talked, of course, about migration."
"I was pleased with a wide-ranging discussion about important issues facing America. The elections are now behind us, and the Congresswoman's party won. But the challenges still remain. ... And therefore, we're going to work together to address those challenges in a constructive way. We won't agree on every issue, but we do agree that we love America equally, that we're concerned about the future of this country, and that we will do our very best to address big problems."

Have you seen all the negative threads on this site today? I am about ready to take a break form FR. It is beginning to look like that other place. If I wanted to know all of that junk, I would turn on the news stations.

[In what may perhaps be called The Humble Pie Breakfast] Bush shares breakfast with the Bicameral Republican Leadership. With the President, to his right (clockwise) are: Sen. Bill Frist, R-Tenn; Mitch McConnell, R-Ky; Vice President Dick Cheney, Missouri Rep. Roy Blunt, Ohio Rep. John Boehner and House Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois.
There was some mention of hearty servings of grits being served, along with fried crow in sour sauce. Duck was removed from the menu at the president's request.

I was unable to connect to the Internet all afternoon. I finally called BellSouth and they fixed it.

Hugs for snugs.
P.S., we need extra hugs, today, on this side of the pond.

I have been through enough grief these past few years that I know you DO NOT dwell on all of the negative things. And that is what is going on here. So if y'all do not hear from me for a while, you will know why.
