WASHINGTON -- Yesterday's voting showed a nation in which the white vote was nearly divided down the middle between Democrats and Republicans -- and a Democratic party that found its edge among minorities, especially in newfound strength with Hispanics.
In fact, just months after House Republicans used a crackdown on illegal immigrants to energize their party's conservative base, Hispanic voters responded yesterday at the voting booth, shifting decisively toward Democrats.
Exit polls showed more than seven in 10 Hispanics voted Democratic in races for House seats. Meanwhile, some 27% voted Republican -- an 11-percentage-point drop from the prior midterm election ...

It doesn't say how many were here legally?
But, not in Texas!
(Unless, you were unlucky enough to be a Republican District Court judge.)
Latino allegeance is always to the Democrats .
In the election of Nov 2000, Hispanics voted for Gore, 2 to to 1 - - - this was even after the Elian Gonzales debacle .
An event caused by Clinton's Bulldog- Janet Reno whom gave the Cubans there a head thumping !
Soon there will be so many here that we won't have to worry about ever winning another election. Mr. Bush, build up that wall!
I don't believe that you CAN'T have 12 million people deported. It can be done.
Anyone who believes that they ever had any allegiance to that party, please raise their hands.
Association doesn't prove causation.
How many of that more than 70% were here legally ? Until we take things under control at the voting booth we will never know.
Hispanic voters I know don't like illegals any better than I do because they give ones here legally and already citizens a bad name.
More Bravo Sierra from the media.
Now if they said illegals, I would agree since there is no check on citizenship to vote or ID required in most states. Until we clean that up illegals will continue to vote especially in CA!
I live around a lot of Mexicans. Don't know any who are Republicans. This is garbage.
I do believe you are correct. Pres. Bush said last week that his administration had deported 6 Million illegal aliens. And they weren't even trying.
True.
This is one of the reasons why I cannot believe and understand why Republican leaders are trying to pander to the Hispanic vote. No matter how hard you push for amnesty they will never vote for you. Get over it and pander to the American people, the overwhelming majority of whom are tired of illegals and want our borders 100% secured.
They don't seem to be terribly informed voters, do they? Perhaps many of them don't even understand their "special" language ballots.
This is why I love generic PC words like "Hispanic." Nobody ever really knows who or what we're talking about.
Those Latinos look just like Hispanics to me, and so too do them Chicanos, and them Cubans and Puerto Ricans, too, by golly gee. :-)
"Exit polls showed." Enough said.
I have news for these idiots. We dropped percentage points from every group.

The Cubans in Florida are almost all republican. However, they were before Elian Gonzales
77% Hispanic for Dims, Always 90% for the black vote, apparently 87% Jewish vote this term, I would venture to guess 90% of the gay vote, are there any more minority groups for the Dims and the media to propagandize? Oh yeah, what was the muslim vote?
The Dims have succussfully hoodwinked a large population of people, and people wonder how Hitler came to power, propaganda.
If you vote for Republicans you're a racist, don't you see how the other ______(insert minority here) people vote, it's mass brainwashing and we are defenseless against the propaganda organs of TV, Film, music, etc.
This is a disturbing trend, we are on the slippery slope towards socialism, their Marxist divide and conquer mentality has been successful.
It's very troubling and discouraging to think people can't think for themselves and vote en masse for a party that they truly don't understand.
If they ever showed their true face they would be lucky to get 10% of the vote.
