Charlie Rangel opens his mouth...and mocks the South: (hat tip: reader CRB)
“It’s not just committees — our influence within the House Democratic caucus will grow enormously,” Mr. Rangel said in an interview.
To that end, he sketched out an expansive federal agenda: Teaming up with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on gun control, passing new tax incentives for urban job programs, and redirecting federal money to New York in return for the outsize tax collections that the federal government makes here.
“Mississippi gets more than their fair share back in federal money, but who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?” Mr. Rangel said.
I'm not the one who is proposing this. Charlie Rangel is.

Meanwhile, did you notice Pickering's veiled note that Mississippi has bothered to rebuild its coast after the hurricane while Chuckles' New York WTC sits there as a hole in the ground and they're doing virtually nothing. It'll be 25 years before NY is rebuilt, meanwhile, Mississippi moves on. That wasn't lost on me. Chuckles Rangel is just a plain clown.

The best nearest chicken fried steak with "country gravy" to NYC is on the Maryland border -- but I'm not saying where.
Americana food is basically a farm diet intended for folks who did hardcore physical labor that burned off a ton of calories.

Point is, the money is not being thrown into some sort of money pit, and if it were taken away, folks would figure out something to do.
If the city fathers in Jackson had not wanted so much payola, MS could have probably gotten herself a nice automobile manufacturing facility. As it turned out, the company went across the border into AL.

Depends on where the voters are concentrated....electoral college rules in Presidential races ameliorate the effect of populations of larger states with respect to less populated states.
Latino's still tend to congregate in the southwestern states and will cause some displacements in the congressional seating...but electoral college rules help mitigate against against those populations badly effecting the rest of the states in the Presidential elections...plus each state still only gets 2 senators! Also lets do some math...20 million divides out into 400, 000 voters per state and not all states will see that equal amount, some may see more...plus the rest of the nation is still growing.

LOL..Last time I was in MS I did not see any sushi places however they have many Waffle Houses, Piggly Wiggly's and Dairy Queens...Gulfport is a beautiful place I could live there if I could build a Trader Joe's Market next store...
I'm a big fan of Waffle Houses.
