Editorial: Head of Virginia GOP should resign
11.09.06 | Perdogg

Posted on 11/09/2006 10:08:24 AM PST by Perdogg

I officially call upon the head of the Republican party in Virginia to resign.

In 2004, 70% of the estimated 200,000 voters in the Presidental race went to reelect President Bush.

Then............

In 2005, We had a slamdunk for Governor, Jerry Kilgore, It should have been a blowout win, but we lost.

In 2006, We had a slamdunk for US Senate, Sen George Allen, It should have been a blowout win, but we lost.

Candidates don't always do or say the right thing, but if this trend continues, we will lose whatever majorities we have in the Commonwealth, and may even turn Blue on Nov 4th, 2008.

We need someone with a good electorial strategy, other than calling me 25 times between Sunday and Election day. We should have indentified those 140,000 voters who voted to reelect Bush in 2004 and gotten them to the polls.

Allen could not even carry Loudoun County. This is a disturbing trend.

It's time for someone new to come in and to take over before it is too late.

The Kilgore campaign continued in Allen's campaign. Similar silly commercials droning and droning and droning. Awful.

You should call on the Washington Post to close up shop, too.

We are never going to convince the Washington Post, so we need to be better and to have a strategy beyond them.

Allen's macaca comment made him look like a supercilious racist.

Now, as far as the media, in particular The Washington Post goes.... What good is an ombudsman if you don't correct your biased behavior? Is it something to have just to make you feel good while you go about your business as usual? There's an old saying that you don't pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel. But what if you were able to reduce it from a barrel to a trickle? It is time for Republicans, conservatives and fairminded people everywhere to hold the WashPo accountable. Cancelling your subscriptions won't have any impact. That isn't where they make their money anyway. Besides, I'm sure that a number of disgusted people already have or never did subscribe. I'm talking about hitting them where it hurts. Why is the NY Times teetering on bankruptcy? Loss of ad revenue dollars. What would happen say if a large enough group of people organized a boycott of all major businesses that advertise in the pages of the WashPo so long as the paper remains biased in its coverage of the GOP? (You'd probably have to exclude Sunday sale flier inserts.) If the effort was serious enough and widespread, consumers could force a major loss of ad revenue by making advertising in the WashPo radioactive. Before you know it, those multiple full page ads from Macy's would vanish. The way you defeat the WashPo (and the rest of the old media), is to starve it. Any ideas and suggestions are most welcome....

Correct! You would have thought that after the Kilgore debacle, a lesson would've been learned. The ads for both candidates were like "Barney the Purple Dinosaur" ads. They were'nt serious.

'That's a great deal to make one word mean,' Alice said in a thoughtful tone.

'When I make a word do a lot of work like that,' said the media, 'I always pay it extra.'

LOL! A made-up word means just what the media say it means.

I call for the head of all GOP leaders. They blew this election big time, along with the afraid of their shadows Republicans.

I am still upset about losing everytime I think about Nancy Pelosi getting the gavel. ARGH! This should NOT have happened. Is it ok if I am just plain angry?

In 2005, We had a slamdunk for Governor, Jerry Kilgore, It should have been a blowout win, but we lost.

For the past thirty years or so (since the South went from solid Democrat), Virginia has ALWAYS voted GOP in presidential elections and Virginia has ALWAYS elected a governor from the party that DID NOT HAVE THE WHITE HOUSE. Aside from going solidly Republican for president, Virginia has been pretty much up for grabs.

And if you considered Jerry Kilgore a "slamdunk" I would hate to see what you consider a bad choice.

We can blame the Washington Compost or anyone else we want, but in the end, it was ONE WORD in ONE SPEECH that ended Allen's political career. And it pisses me off, because three months ago I was certain that he would be the next president.

>>Allen's macaca comment made him look like a supercilious racist.>>

But it only goes one way. The Mayor of Atlanta and the former mayor of Atlanta made a policitical ad saying that if Right Winger took over the Fulton County Commission their (blacks) lives would be in danger and that they would get attacked with hoses and dogs again. Why do white people not stand up to racist crap too?

I officially call for the head of the Ohio Republican Party to resign.

By not engineering an avoidance of primaries, for the first time in 16 years, we divided ourselves and got creamed.

Your thesis is absolutely correct, but it's unfair to pin the blame on the head of the Virginia GOP.

It's being caused by us getting swamped by a combination of transplated New Yorkers and New Englanders, and a massive wave of immigrants from Mexico and Central America. And there's not really a whole lot that changing the head of the Virginia will do about that.

According to the State Board of Elections, 54 percent of 3.4 million votes went to Bush/Cheney. That's 1.7 million, not 200,000.

We can't change the press, although they may go bankrupt eventually. In the meantime, conservatives need to avoid making stupid remarks. Democrats have a license to say what they like; conservatives don't. It's as simple as that.

"they would get attacked with hoses and dogs again" but only if they are caught stealing pampers and stereos, and beating up innocent truck drivers in civilian protest of any local court decision.
