My question has always been "who on that airplane did Clinton want dead"?

Only the military could have mounted such a sophisticated mid-air strike. The sky and waters were full of military assets that beat a hasty retreat after the plane went down.

Since sailors and airmen are human, there is no way that at least one (and likely many) crewmen would not have come forward with the information, top secret be damned!

And exactly the same if it was a horrible accident during war games.

What if it was a revenge attack by Iran for the accidentally shooting down of one of their passenger planes? Odd how these things seem to happen in balanced pairs...

Considering one of the C-130's that transported his limousine and other things crashed in Wyoming and killed some of his secret service personnel and many more of his personnel perished in his 8-year tenure, I wonder if one of his agents was on that plane? Seems it wasn't healthy to be a SA in his administration.

Now that I'm retired, I can tell you exactly what happened and what part the Navy played...

None. Go play with your "Bush and Chaney faked the 9/11 attacks and blew up the WTC" friends.

I don't believe that anyone in the military would shot down a passenger airline (excepted one controlled by terrorist). And if they believed that is what they were doing, they would not keep it a secret.

You obviously didn't get the secret memo that was sent out to all the TWA 800 Loonjobs on 9/12/2001.

You're supposed to completely forget and ignore the "Navy Shot it down" theory like it was never mentioned, and completely switch to "terrorists shot it down" since it's an easier and more popular sell.

Marine mounted Russian or Chinese HW, snuck in by the Mukhabarat or other hostile Spec Ops / Black Ops. Given the security environment during the Klintoon years, I personally cannot discount the idea.

Mohammad Samir Ferrat was a close associate of Ron Brown, and was apparently supposed to be on the same plane that crashed and killed Ron Brown (4/3/96), except that Ferrat canceled at the last moment only to be killed just a few months later on TWA flight 800 (7/17/96).

Ferrat was an Algerian business associate of Ron Brown.

Don't believe for a minute that the large numbers of military folks that would have been involved would *all* keep silent, just to protect old BJ's butt. He wasn't exactly beloved by the military you know.

Sure, and there would only be a couple of hundred people MINIMUM in a position to know that, and all of them military members with no love of the Toon or any reason to want to kill Americans.

Grow up, for Pete's sake, you sound like a dang lib.

A few years back under clinton, we had extensive discussions of this here on FR. Alamo Girl made a whole fantastic compilation, which she put on the web (link on FR main page - or at least there was), and I do remember that there was some famous person on board, who had just escaped from another crash/attack. In fact there were several other 'people of special interest' too.

No, it wasn't the military. If it was anything it was the fact that the airlines were paying the Democrats NOT to impose more expensive security measures or measures that would make the public more uncomfortable about flying. Al Gore wasn't getting patted on the back by the airlines for nothing. A big airline security incident like this wasn't something anyone would want except someone trying to damage our economy.

When that single plane incident didn't do the damage they had hoped it would, terrorists would have to find something more spectacular that could not be denied or discounted as accidental. And they did.

So you think our military shoot down civilian airliners and cover it up? I suppose you think that they barbecue babies and stomp on kittens in Iraq, too. What makes a person loath the military that much?

"who on that airplane did Clinton want dead?"

Looking at it from that theory's basis, my question would be who in the world in the U.S. military would have been that sold out to the personal ambitions of any President?

I think it was a terrorist attack, and Clinton did not want to mess up his approval rating/legacy by actually engaging the attackers.

I am quite prepared to believe this was a shootdown, as George Snuffleupagous called it during a gab-show after 9/11. But why so much effort (three missiles and maybe a chase plane as well) to destroy this particular plane...and while I would not be surprised to learn it was an arkancide, what if it was someone else?
