The Dems already said Bolton won't be approved by their congress.

He never was approved by the Republican congress either.

Actually, from what I understand, it was the "base" who were the only ones who actually turned out and voted Republican.

I'd be interested to see who actually voted for Chaffee in Rhode Island. I suspect, but don't know, that a big chunk of his votes came from Lafferty (sp?) supporters holding their noses.

Don't blame the "base" for the loss. Those are the folks who will vote for a turd if it has the "R" label.

I doubt the two dozen or so Freepers who sat this election out had much of an effect.

if Pelosi and Co. try to overreach

There is no way the Dem powers-that-be (the ones who kept Pelosi and Reid out of sight for the run-up to the election) will allow them to "overreach." They have another election coming up soon and I guarantee you the last thing they want is their leadership showing off its moonbat side. The plain fact of the matter is the Dems that won ran as "conservatives," so they've boxed themselves in to toeing that line. They know the electorate has little patience for their goofy side.

Avoid the temptation of being "loved by the LEFT."

Unlike you, he has to run a war against Islamism. And since we the people have just voted to surrender Iraq, he's now going to have to cut a deal just to get this country through the next two years without another 9/11.

We put him in an utterly untenable bargaining position, and now you expect him to perform miracles.

A bunch of them might have been moderates when they ran for office but a few weeks in D.C. and they will come around to what ever Madam Speaker wants. It's like "do you want your desk in the hall or a nice office. Play by my rules and you will be treated well."

A perfect example of Conservative grassroots emotional voting, much like the liberals.

And now to complain about its results, and pretend they hadn't a clue about the GOP firewall, a surrender in Iraq, ect, is disingenuous.

G.W.Bush has been allmost like his father kiss aeery ass in sight.

The Bush spinelessness is strong with the young one. The Rumsfeld move reinforced that yet again. He just doesn't get it - conservatives will not come out to vote for Democrat lite.

There are plenty of people who donate to FR who disagree with your views. You may think of them as losers, but to claim they don't contribute financially is absurd.

I will continue to stand with my brother, the President, but it has been a hard couple of days

You think this is hard-- try being a soldier or the father or mother of a soldier and having to watch this pathetic whining and wondering if even the sane Americans are still on the side of the Commander in Chief.

Ya'll vent all you want-- the enemies (internal and external) are all listening and laughing at you...

You bring up a good topic. The Dems and the President basically agree on immigration policy. This will be one agenda Bush can easily accomplish. A true conservative voice will not be heard on this issue.

announcing the resignation the very day after we took such a beating was just plain STUPID! This was in the works for months - so his resignation in the summer may have done something to save Senate control - Allen lost by less than 10,000 votes! Instead, we get this golden gift handed to the Dhims. The President should have just sent a freakin' Hallmark card! "

I understand your political disappointment on this, but some have reasoned that had Bush jettisoned Rummy b4 the election, the hemorrage of conservatives could have been significant.

My own view is that Bush waited until after the election because he believed that Rumsfeld's resignation prior to the election would have accelerated risk to the well-being of our troops in Iraq. He sacrificed political expediency for the safety of our military, something Clinton would have never done.

To all those Pubs who stayed home to teach a lesson, thank you very much.

Hail the global caliphate, brought to you by the same spiteful, disloyal back-stabbers who brought you Ho Chi Minh City and Pol Pot--the American electorate.

Yes, our plan to punish and send a message is working beautifully!

I voted straight R, trying to do my part to save the House and Senate. I did not agree with "sending a message".I am horrified by democrat control, because things will rapidly move downhill.

HAVING SAID THAT: The President, along with the Republican House and Senate were blindsided because those who worked on their campaigns and gave hard earned dollars to their campaigns and had faith in the conservative messages put forth, were all but ignored when it came to the Domestic issues they found important.

What do you do? Withholding money from their campaigns in protest was not working - they already had big donors. They never worried that votes may be withheld if they did not pay attention to voters, because we complained but we still stood up for them in 2002, 2004. The Republicans did not have to listen to the people because they had their cake, and were eating it too.

Horrible lesson to learn, but maybe next time they will understand that when you are voted in to speak FOR the people, the people MEAN it!

When the terrorists are blowing up malls and buildings and buses and schools here in the USA, those who voted for democrats and socialists are going to be very sorry - and RINOS who held hands with democrats will learn that lesson right along with everyone else.

There needs to be some vigorous discussion of the proper direction for this party, which will take some weeks or months to play out. Once that's done then there should be a reasonable expectation that party members will begin to fall back into line. Evidently Jim Robinson understands that, because the mods have not pulled many posts (that I've seen, at least).

While it's certainly within your right to stop donating, it seems as though you would rather create an echo chamber than a forum for conservative discussion. I don't see that as particularly helpful, and I hope the owner of this site is of a similar mind.
