They will complain, but there reaches a point where the issue hits home. If this country goes into an economic downturn and unemployment rises, there will be increasing anger at the fact that illegals are taking jobs. If our schools, hospitals, and social systems continue to be overburdened to the point that the tax base can't support it without increasing taxes, then you will see more involvement. ERs are closing down. State Medicaid payments are burgeoning out of control. Property taxes are rising. Schools are overcrowded.

The US is headed for a major train wreck in terms of the entitlement programs. SS, Medicare, and Medicaid are not sustainable in their present form. The status quo is not an option. The big political fight will be how to fix them. The Dems want to nationalize health service, i.e., provide a Medicare program for all ages. The Dems are against personal accounts in SS. The struggle will be whether we expand these government programs, including increasing taxes, or start privatizing them. The Dems hold on power is wedded to keeping people dependent upon government. If they win, our economy will be devastated.
