What would be so hard about thumb printing and making a machine that registers your ballot when you feed it in and gives you a receipt of who you voted for with a number. That way you could go online and check that your vote was actually counted.

Yessir, I agree with that. Kind of hard to tell them apart sometimes, except the Jackass Party is an even bigger bunch of cowards than their al-Qaeda brethren.

Of course! I thought something was odd for all the media to be attending church today! In Virginia. On Wed.

I don't know. Perhaps it's a question that should be brought up. I'm afraid, though, that you might see some folks not amused by being fingerprinted to vote, and some are right here on FR.

No. And you can include Governorships and state legislatures also.

Bush giving Rumsfeld the axe prior to the election probably would have led to the same result. It would have indicated that he believed the Iraq policy was a failure and given further talking points to the other side.

I agree. I kept my "punishing" local and limited to the race for mayor.

Bad news for the unborn.

The last 5 federal budgets were bad news for the unborn as well. Just ask my son, daughter-in-law, and new grandson.

One question: Why is this breaking news? How has the situation changed from a few hours ago when we knew that Webb was ahead and we were waiting on the possibility of a recount? I could understand it being breaking news if Allen conceded, but nothing has changed.

We had one electronic voting machine where I was. My guess is that for every e-ballot cast, 5 or 6 paper ballots were cast -- it seemed to take a long time to navigate through the software.

"I always associate "Read my lips, no new taxes" to Pres. Bush 41."

Yeah, you're right, that was the torpedo. But Dad did use the "Stay the course" line in 1992.
