Hotline: Republicans Will Pressure Allen... Soon
Hotline/National Journal ^

Top Republicans in Washington will give Sen. George Allen a few days to take stock of his legal and political options before beginning to pressure him to concede to James Webb. Senior Republican officials and White House aides believe that Webb won the race. Several outside advisers to Allen want him to make the decision quickly; others in his campaign want to make sure that there's no chance a cache of new votes will turn up. One question: when will (will?) the AP call the race? [MARC AMBINDER]

Sorry if I misled. I am an ordinary contributor and supporter and I didn't mean to imply that I wanted Allen to do anything rushed.

The counting process is not complete ~ there's no reason for concessions. And Webb ATTRACTED the neo-Nazi and Ku Klux Klan crowd in Virginia just like Mark Warner and his protege the current Governor.
Part of that package is this willingness to jettison principles readily and for no further advantage than power.
And his pregnant wife doesn't impress me. My wife has also been pregnant. And if she's all that willing to forgive genocide against her people, that's too bad. The Dems were instrumental in it ~

The absentees have been counted. Only the provisional ballots are left. Absentees are counted on election night in Virginia. Provisional ballots aren't. Those are the folks who aren't on the official rolls, vote and 95% get tossed because they were correctly excluded from voting because they never registered in the district.
To: palmer
OK that's not crazy. Still they keep pretty much the same staff. The Dems would get a few more, the Rs a few less. It's no big deal at all.

It's a messy job but somebody has to do it if others won't.

Overseas ballots may not have been. They only need to be postmarked by election day, not arrive by. Those ballots will still count even if they arrive tommorrow. As long as the postmark is valid. This is wht Gore did in 2000. The military post office was slow in getting them to Florida, but the postmark was BEFORE election day!

There likely aren't 7,000 out there. Period though. We can be hopeful, but realism is good too. There were those who screamed at anybody the last few weeks who thought the election would be a bumpy ride. It would be a miracle if Allen pulls this out. Miracles do happen, I am just trying to give perspective so people don't get too hopeful. I would rather be pleasantly surprised than crushed.

That's not what the official state website is showing. They still have Webb over 7,000 up.

Hey, we've had electronic and machine voting in Fairfax County for years and years. The county Democratic machine demonstrated a number of years ago how you can trick the system and count, recount, and count again until you make sure the Japanese-American guy with the Western name (Sanders) LOSES.
You're quite naive if you think this system can't be tricked, and there's already 3700 votes that flipped because of a misassignment.

Allen should take his sweet time - Schmuckie Schumer will have his panties in a bunch - but that is too bad isn't it? Drag this thing out - take 2 months off the term!Toy with them.

He lost fair and square.
Time to move on...
I'm sick of this attitude, which seems to prevail when Republicans are on the losing side of close races.
While Allen likely has lost, all the votes haven't even been counted. It's not time to move on until all of the votes have been counted, and, if permitted by law, recounted. There's absolutely no reason to just cave in.
You know the Democrats would be screaming fraud were the shoe on the other foot. We need not be as shrill - but take the process to its end.
To: dogbyte12
In Virginia you can register in the wrong precinct and get elected to office in the wrong municipality and the state supreme court will say that's OK.
This ain't over.

In 2000 and 2004 the battle cry was "don't count military or other absentee ballots, the race is over". Now, it's don't count them for the same reason.I would NEVER trust absentee ballots cause it ain't that hard to show up at the poll.
