I don't believe this nonsense for a minute. A Democrat is a Democrat - a lying sack of donkey excrement that would sell their dear old grandmother into sexual slavery for a taste of power.
If President Bush wants to stick it to these phonies, he should practice an aggressive divide and conquer policy - force these "Blue Dogs" to choose between party and their supposed principles time and again. Either the moonbats will go mad, fracturing the party - or the "Blue Dogs" will be exposed as the brie-eating, Chardonnay swilling socialist fakes they are.
Regards, Ivan

This only proves that the nation is still very much a conservative country. I think that the author makes a good point--the so-called moderate Republicans were hypocrites and disgusted voters to the point of throwing them out.

Ivan, I don't even know yet who most of these new people are, but you took the words out of my mouth. The Democrats don't PERMIT their politicians to vote pro-life or pro-family. It violates their most basic beliefs.

There will be a lot of one term wonders. Many of these RAT newbies ran as conservative-lites and will self-destruct 2 years from now when their actual voting records get highlighted.

Hmmm-m-m-m, let's see, Democrats who came over from the dark side: Ronald Reagan, Strom Thurmond, Ben Nighthorse Campbell, Harry Byrd, Rchard Shelby, John Connolly...

Blue dog? Shouldn't they be "red dog"??
Part of the reason why that whole Blue State/Red State thing is entirely backward.
The left side of the spectrum is Red, the right is Blue. Same thing with the pH scale which goes from acidic Left to Conservative base.
A "blue dog" is a Dem that's more like a Pubbie. But the Dems are "blue"??
Go figger.

Although the Democrats victory was above all an overwhelming repudiation of the conflict in Iraq, it was also built on the back of moderate, often conservative candidates recruited to compete in traditionally Republican territory. This is such nonsense. These guys were recruited for their ability to appear moderate. When push comes to shove, they will follow the money--and that comes from Emily's List, NARAL and the Unions.

They wear cowboy boots, chew tobacco, love hunting, hate abortion, want less government spending and some voted for Ronald Reagan. Now they are headed to Congress as Democrats. So newspapers like cowboys as long as they have a (D) by their name?

Our correspondent examines how the party masterminded its move to the centre and reined in liberals to seize hostile territories Except that it is the current ranking minority members who will take over chairmanships of committees in January. These ranking members are the most left wing members of the DemocRAT delegation in the House. Even if theses freshman congressmen are "blue dog DemocRATS", they will be voting for Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker of the House.
