This is the second time in a generation that the American public has stabbed our warriors in the back. In other words, this is not a fluke.

You do know many of the newly elected dems were running as GOP lite.
Their vote for the first pelosi gun grabbing bill will show there true core beleiefs.
Democrats cannot get elected on their core beliefs. They must be fraudulent to get elected.

Well said. The recriminations are largely useless. I generally don't handle it well when people display their venal and cruel sides to each other and start inserting knives in backs as fast as they can. That sort of thing makes me ill.

I am going to re-post my thoughts on a few of these vanity threads....I posted this on another thread. Take it for what it is worth.
Look, folks, we took a major league shellacking last night. People did not repudiate the ideals of the Republican Party but the actions of the party. We certainly need to get our actions back in line with our ideals.
Republicans also suffered the NORMAL PARTY IN POWER LOSSES for a sixth year administration. And it was Republicans all over the idealogical spectrum: liberal jackball Lincoln Chaffee and Constitutionalist J.D. Hayworth both lost.
So I don't buy this "all is lost" mentality. We've got to regroup and start targeting the vulnerable liberals in the House and Senate for '08.
Politics is the art of the possible, so our strategy should be to look for the possibilities and exploit them.
I am reminded of the Jewish patriarch Joseph: his story is a remarkable example of success, failure, success, failure. In all circumstances he stayed true to his God and his ideals, whether things were going GREAT or if he was utterly rejected. We would do well to follow that example.

The Republicans stopped being conservatives, and it cost them.
The Democrats, on the other hand, will spend the next two years trying to implement Socialist policies, reaching out to terrorists, raising taxes, and generally making a mess of things again.
When the Republicans want to start representing THE PEOPLE again and getting back to the political philosophies of Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich then we'll be on the road to recovery and take back Congress.

I hope it hasn't gotten so bad that people are considering abandoning anything, but what you say is exactly right.
Some of us (okay, myself) are somewhat worried about the direction the military will take under a member of the Baker-Hamilton commission. But I'm not quitting, just a bit concerned.
Maybe some of the political 'big heads' that watch these things more closely could comment on the new direction we seem to be heading.

Well said.
Have you noticed the difference of our attitude after our loss versus the liberals attitude when they lost?
They (liberals) are truly the lost & spoiled me generation that knows only today and never even bothers with tomorrow.

Sadly though common sense is practically non existent in this country as evidenced by the democratic sweeps. I'm just reeling in shock at how guillible people are & saddened to think that corrupt, immoral people won in races simply for the sake of 'change'.

If I get one vanity this is it. Left wing approaches are doomed to failure. They threaten our prosperity and our very lives. This is based on history and common sense. The enemy of a successful America is not a political party. It is wrong headed leftist thinking.
And yet, despite this realization, The GOP Leadership dropped the ball and gave the leftists another chance at imposing their socialist agenda on us?
That's why most of us Conservatives are angry. Didn't Ken Mehlman and the rest of the GOP Leadership realize how bad leftist ideas were on November 6?
