Dems' Wins In U.S. Are Embraced Overseas

MADRID, Spain - The seismic shift that midterm elections brought to Washington's political landscape was welcomed by many Wednesday who oppose the war in Iraq and the harsh methods the Bush administration has employed in fighting terrorism.

From Paris to Pakistan, politicians, analysts and ordinary citizens said they hoped the Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives would force President Bush to adopt a more conciliatory approach to global crises, and teach a president many see as a "cowboy" a lesson in humility.

But some also expressed fears that a split in power and a lame-duck president might stall global trade talks and weaken much-needed American influence.

On Iraq, some feared that Democrats will force a too-rapid retreat, leaving that country and the region in chaos. Others said they doubted the turnover in congressional power would have a dramatic impact on Iraq policy any time soon, largely because the Democrats have yet to define the specifics of the course they want to take.

The U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad, said American policy would not dramatically change, despite the Democratic election success.

"The president is the architect of U.S. foreign policy," the ambassador said in a videotape distributed by the U.S. Embassy. "He is the commander in chief of our armed forces. He understands what is at stake in Iraq."

Regardless of the effect on world events, global giddiness that Bush was finally handed a political black-eye was almost palpable.

Only the weak, cowardly, terrorist, communist, dictator nations of the world welcome last night's defeat of the war on terror....while the ignorant voters of this country have no idea what they did to this country last night....a sickening reality.

More BS...

Both houses are split pretty evenly and the Ouiji board is spelling out 'gridlock' as I type this. Look forward to even more bickering (not less).

They will come to regret the day when the USA becomes a mirror image of their putrid societies. When they look to the USA for leadership they will not find it with Dims in power. Have fun Europe when the muzzies adopt Sharia law and stab you weenies into oblivion.

Maybe we should give Europeans what they want... a total, immediate pullout from Iraq. Once that happens, let THEM deal with the total terrorist chaos that will ensure in their own countries.

The 'sophisticated', 'nuanced' Europeans should be more thoughtful about what they wish for.

Since they are ecstatic, time for the President to Veto every appropriation bill for every country and pull our troops out and let the Islamic Fascist have them. Put our troops along our borders along with our western interests and then see how long it will be before they are screaming for us to help them.

Maybe that is what it is going to take, to educate these fools, especially those in Europe. Let them rot -- they need an attitude adjustment and a cowardly, DemoRat-run USA will provide just that.

The french are cowards. They were cowards in the middle ages and they are cowards now. They make a virtue out of necessity and embrace cowardice. They want us to be like them so they won't feel bad about being cowards. SO much for cultured Europe.

Thank you American Sheeple. You voted for the Rats, now we will ALL have to suffer the consquences. I don't want to hear these mindless idiots cry and whine the next time we get attacked and if it is Democrat initiated policy that allowed it too happen. Those who voted for this crowd will have the blame too, in my book.

One thing that is significant is.....do you hear any
complaints about voting irregularities? Do you hear
any crying coming from the Republicans who lost? Do
you hear any complaints about anything about a recount?
Do you hear about Black voters being shut out? You
would have heard all this...and more if they lost...
you can bet your sweet bibby on that !!!! Jake

Savage is correct when he states 'the gay mafia and feminization of our culture weakens us for enemy attack'

The dems/liberals who trash this nation are certainly the enemy within. They cannot and will not protect the USA.
When their little nirvana worlds come crashing down they will regret what they have become.

"Congratulations" America. You just elected a nearly communist (totally socialist) Speaker of the House.

You could probably find a picture with a bunch of European children with the EU flag acting in the same manner.

As did the Islamic Radical Fascist Terrorist. Spain put up the white flag of surrender and the terrorist supporters that were elected yesterday will do the same. May God help us all!

Thats a nice thought, but it won't be the Euros (and even less the Americans) that suffer the consequences of an Iraq pullout, like it wasn't really the Euros or the US that suffered the consequences of Vietnam.

Its the poor bleeding third world that actually pays the price for this sort of thing. Which makes the Euro-centric opining pretty much beside the point. These guys are a bunch of irrelevant sideliners.

And if something bad happens, they should not just be allowed to say "We're sorry we messed up"

There must be a serious day of reckoning. We must call them the Vichy Americans for now.
