You would be criticizing Washington himself for not getting enough done.
The NRA might benefit from pulling their head of of their "beltway" and also a little self-scrutiny. Just like the GOP.
Ping.
In the wake of the NRA's electoral defeat, Violence Policy Center Legislative Director Kristen Rand states, "The gun lobby's foot soldiers went AWOL in this election."
Things are not that bad they we lose our reading comprehension.
Make ready.
And we can't count on a Bush veto. I suspect that gun control will be about their fourth priority after granting Mexicans amnesty, raising taxes on those who work, and raising the minimum wage
Your right Joe...and I enjoy it...One thing for sure they have tried it in the past and it cost them...I am not sure that untill and if they win the next one...They will come after them.....Next election cycle if they do...Then yes they will....This Presdent will not sell us out on that accord....I have more faith in him than that.....I have soem plans to add to my collection the next year....Now for sure....
That 30 seat historical average mid term swing is that high because it includes the response to major scandals like Watergate and Nixon's resignation, or the threat of Hillarycare.
But there wasn't even close to a 30 seat swing in 1990, 1998, or 2002. These upsets aren't a chronological inevitability. You have to actively disgust the electorate to bring it upon yourself. You can do that at any time, not just mid terms - and we did, but the security issue kept it from catching up with us for 4 years. The Dems just kept their moonbats quiet and stayed out of the way.
"I suggest you shut your mouth"
Free country, bud. I won't make any suggestions about what I think you should do, but now that your bullhorn is out of batteries I'll clarify my point.
When I said the president was "weak" I specifically meant that he was willing to sign a new version of the 'assault weapons ban'. Thats in context with the subject of this thread, though I failed to mention that point specifically.
Further, I'm not entirely convinced he's as strong as he could be on the war on terror. Fives after going into Afghanistan we are still fighting bearded goons who live in mud huts. We should have terminated them by now. But we haven't because we've been fighting most of this war with one hand tied behind our backs.
I am still a Bush supporter, but I am also a realist.
Quite true. Mostly because the Dems have avoided talking about gun control for the last six years. And many of the pro-gun Pubs who lost yesterday were replaced by obstensibly pro-gun Dems. However nothing will energize the conservative base in 08 as would the Dems overreaching and pushing a gun control agenda.
Agreed that it is not a certainty that the party in power will lose. And I agree that we (GOP) blew it. All I am saying is that it was not an unprecedented swing, and that we can get it back IF we work at it.
Second Amendment will be one of the first casualities, then they will go over Conservative radio and blogs, and forums.
Now does anyone know of a good source for cosmoline, (or something better) 'cause I hate having all the toys in one box...
Hey to the guy I was teasing about guns and hunting earlier.
SEE WHAT I MEAN, I HOPED YOU BAGGED A BIRD WHILE YOU STILL CAN
Not necessarily..
From what I've gathered from the "news" sources over the last couple weeks, quite a few of the dem candidates are pro-gun...
Whether that is just election rhetoric, or a new type of politician, I don't know..
It was noted that it seemed at least some, if not many, of the new dem candidates were categorized as "conservative" democrats.. ( Yes, there are such animals..)
I would suggest keeping an open mind on the new dems until we see which way the wind blows, and how they react..
The dems aren't stupid.. ( as much as we like to call them stupid.. LOL )
Many of the dems learned their lesson on anti-gun politics, and have thrown that tactic by the wayside..
They understand it's a losing proposition... ( at least for now.. )
I would not expect the dems to try any anti-gun legislation until 2008 elections are over, depending on whether they can pull out a presidential win...
I think they understand that the only way such legislation would pass is with a consolidated democratic executive and legislative branch..
Only with a dem majority in congress, and a dem president will they try for any major gun bills..
You've got a new gif with text up there, looks good.
The eagles are perfect on the flag now.
Sad to say though, that not all my votes were for Republicans. Todays GOP just doesn't hold the RKBA in the esteem with which it once did.
