Overall I believe my model does work, and it certainly works better than the Vietnam model of a never ending battle against insurgents. The Emperor was allowed to keep his post as Monarch, but in the same symbolic way as the British model, and I might add he was a stabilizing force post war. We demanded unconditional surrender after beating the Germans and Japanese senseless, and then we laid out their form of govt. in no uncertain terms, and with no uncertainty on how we expected it done. Contrast that with the debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I'm not criticizing the troops, as the armed forces can accomplish ANYTHING requested of them with a clear plan on how to get to the desired result, and you can't help but be struck by how far we have come from the President's State of The Union Address shortly after 9/11. Now we say it's better to deal with Hamas politically instead of having them on the street. Wasn't this appeasement thing used by German Politicos with Hitler?

He thought the Pubs were going to win yesterday. "shows how much [he] knows" I was being incredulous. Not a good phrase for him to use.

Been there, done that -- dems will not!! Rmember Carter and Clinton??? Do we have a blue water navy?? NO??
Why was the Cole refueling in Yemen and not at sea? Why did we not have the entire 1st Cav in Iraq/ (A war party in the desert and no one invites the big heavy boys)? --
Answer: Clinton savage our Navy, 300 less ships to get them there.

Hey all. I had to come back on to make shure I heard right that since we lost the election, the President is dumping Rumsfeld.
Words fail me, other than what is not becoming, and what would get me banned from FR.
Now, I am mad.

Bush was asked why when asked about Rumsfeld staying he didn't mention the change. He said he didn't want to inject a major descion on the war into the election so he gave the answer that Rumsfield was staying in order to change the subject. He implied that he knew then he was leaving and that he deliberately lied to reporter.
Even if true, he made a tactical error in admitting that. People and reporters do not want president admit lying.

Bush is out there saying what the Neo Isolationist from Bush 1 scripted for him. As Rush says, let Bush be Bush. Total disaster to try and script him.

Yes, Hillary did win the Presidency last nite.
Conservative voters proved along with other Americans that they are not mature enough to fight a war, they choose the pacifist party and traitorous media to lead.
So be it, now hide your money!

George Bush really believed in America, and America let him down.
I don't know which I feel worse for, my President or my Country.

Both.
I saw fire in his eyes, but not in his voice. Okay ..he now appears to be more firm while addressing the press..but his opening comments..to me...seemed to question.
Why I say that, Sean drives me nuts. He makes a statement like a question. His voice at the end of a statement goes up..like a question.

That is true, do not be suprised that 2008 will play well for the Pubs. This is because those Dems that are more moderate are going to knukle under the presense of "Mama P. " of CA ( House ) and the "Gambler " from NV ( Senate ) or they will be shown the "front door", just like Sen. Joe a few months ago. At least that kick in the behind of Sen. Joe came back to at least haunt the Dems/Libs last night.
What hurt Rep. Johnson was the fact she used too many negitive ads which made her look real bad and instead of not keeping to the issues.

That is the meme they want to plant. Listen to them, the WHPC is gleeful. Now they're going to say he lied about replacing Rumsfeld. GWB is a stronger man than I. I'd have told these jerks where to stick it long ago.

EC, I believe the GOP needs to be a Conservative Party too...but we need to work with folks who might not be. Every party, here or in Great Britain or every place except splintered systems like Israel and Italy have broad based coalitions that requires sometimes we DO hold our nose...this time we lost...I HATE IT. I think it very well may be DISASTROUS for the country. But we CANNOT give up...
