Europeans welcome Bush defeat but question impact

PARIS, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Many Europeans welcomed President George W. Bush's resounding defeat in mid-term U.S. elections, hoping the resurgent Democrats would help end ugly rifts that have soured trans-Atlantic relations in recent years.

However, analysts said U.S. foreign policy was unlikely to change overnight, especially in Iraq, and warned that the Democrats might prove more awkward to deal with than the beaten Republicans in areas such as international trade.

*snip*

The Socialist Group in the European Parliament, the second largest bloc following the conservative grouping, hailed the election result, saying Bush had been "seriously weakened".

Good question. I don't know. All we know is that Crispian Balmer of Reuters thinks they all (each and every one of them) hold the same opinion about everything. That's why he, and they, can write endless articles about what "Europeans" supposedly think.

My question is, why are we supposed to care?

As predicted, Al-Reuters is in true form. Europe will get its due...I think the countdown until their first real big 9/11 has started...especially if we lose the Senate, the Islamofascists have been emboldened and it won't be long. They know they will get no resistance from a socialist American government and they are banking on that.

Europe is going Muslim. They will regret not helping us.

BTW, President Bush has not been defeated. It won't take long for people to realize the mistake they made giving the TERRORIST democrat party power back.

BIG MISTAKE.

Wait a minute. Nobody told me Bush was standing for election this year. When did the constitution get changed? I thought we elected Presidents for four years. I wish people would warn me about these changes.

And now an opposing viewpoint from this side of the Atlantic -

My response was, "I don't f***ing welcome this. It's a victory for ragheads and wankers."

"There is less White House in America now and a little less America in the world," said Dominique Moisi, special counselor at the French Institute of International Relations.

They will find they will be expected to carry more of the WOT, since the Dims believe it is only a law enforcement problem. They will come to regret the above statement. They can't afford "a little less America in the world"!

With Charles Rangel controlling the purse of this nation we have no chance to win any conflict in foreseeable future.

I suppose we have to immediately load our boys onto the ships - and get out of Europe, Middle East and South Korea, let the fzzzers who do not like us anyway fend for themselves, we have to concentrate developing Latin America and on protecting ourselves and our only true ally, Japan, in this fast disintegrating world.

I'm more upbeat than most today. If the left wants to defund the war on terror, the President can veto the budget. The Republicans can filibuster in the Senate. Shut down the government. We have the tools to win if we decide to use them.
