Right now, this isn't a Dem landslide but a conventional Year Six election with an underperforming opposition party. 1938 Senate races: GOP picked up six seats. 1958 Senate election: Dems picked up 13 seats. 1986 Senate election: Dems picked up nine (net). In other words, by historical standards this is an excellent result for the President's party six years in. Needless to say, that's not a perspective the Dems, the media, the Europeans or the insurgents will have any time for....
Bush can stop any tax increase by using his dusty veto pen which is rusting away in his desk. Will he? Don't count on it.
Human nature. Economy is good, jobs are plentiful, and there are no tanks rolling down our suburban streets.
Iraq is half a world a way, and the Libs in NY take limos to work.
The price of relearning the lessons of 732 at that battle of Tours in France is going to be a major city in the US or Israel turned into a smoking radioactive hole.
Put it on our credit card, right?
1938 had Hitler
1958 was the midst of the cold war (Korea, the Russians exploding an H-Bomb)
1986 was the least perilous of the three but the cold war was still going on. (Russia was going to either invade the middle east, or collapse - not that this was in the news)
I'm sure it's me, but I can't find this story at the link provided. Anyone have a different link or a way to get to this story from the link.
Thanks! ;>)
Belated Thanks!! ;>)
My guess is that by February AlQaida will have tried to take out a bunch of Congess-critters with some suicide bombers.
Best bet for anyone in DC is to make sure to not go to restaurants in that area.
Remember, AlQaida had a plane go down in Pennsylvania rather than into the US Capitol building, so they've gotta' come back and take care of that mistake to satisfy the need for kharmic balance.
It's a totally mystical thing for these guys.
Leave the genocide to Democrats. Republicans should have no part in such things. Killing the poor is never the solution.
