if I was a Dem strategist I wouldn't be dancing in the streets tonight.

They've won the House and may win the Senate. They kicked our asses. What should they do - fold their arms and cry? They won - big time. We lost, big time. No need to whitewash or spin it. The sun will still rise tomorrow. We had a good run and got some things done and failed in others. The American public is polarized on both ends and squishy in the middle. Which way that squishy middle goes every 2, 4, and 6 years makes all the difference. This time they tired of hearing of war, corruption and perversion. Fair or not, this is what they heard and they punished those they held responsible.

Very, very well said! *standing ovation*
I won't be crying in my coffee tomorrow.
The Dems didn't win...the Repubs lost. Let them learn from it.

To a certain extent I agree. While this is pretty normal for the 6th year of a presidency, the GOP has strayed way off message over the last 12 years. While I'm not sure corruption was the top concern, there's no doubt that the House majority was lost due to it. Shame on the GOP for that.

I don't deny that tonight is a loss, and a bitter one. I think that given the historical performance of the President's party in second term midterms, this night is not a terrible beating. It is, however, a beating nonetheless.

This is not whitewashing or spinning...nor is it gloom and doom. As you rightly point out, the sun will rise tomorrow and life goes on. I lose very little sleep nowadays over the drubbing the GOP took in the '82 midterms, and a few years hence I will probably feel the same about the '06 election.

Best post on this thread tonight. All of the money I've given looks to be lost. Been following here, HH for audio, and Tradesports. House is gone. Senate up for grabs. I want the guard doubled on VP and POTUS, considering 2nd in line to POTUS = Skeletor, and third = Sheets. Waited two hours to vote, and am proudly looking forward to making the 2008 battle plan. We will rebound because we are PRINCIPLED !

I'm on my fifth Heineken (with thoughts of Looter-Man), and am going to call it a night. Thank you to everyone for the excellent commentary and updates. This is the best spot on the Internet for true conservative discussion.
