Anyone who thinks America is getting more liberal is misreading the situation. The immigration debate hurt us with a lot of blue collar types (and myself). Iraq COULD have been a winner, but the Republicans failed to explain why it is important. The facts would have supported republicans, but no one (including GWB) made a case to the voters. The economy was missing in action from the debate.
Meanwhile, democrats won as 'conservatives' - but even those who might lean that way won't be allowed to VOTE that way.
Mr Rogers prediction: Republicans will rethink, regroup - and do just fine in 2008.
I agree with you on everything except the last part. Take a look at this thread and you'll see lots of people blaming the loss on us conservatives instead of admitting to themselves that some of the Republicans' attempts to go Left failed big time and cost them this election. There is little introspection going on, and I have little reason to believe that the same won't hold for the Republican Leadership. In other words, if the Republicans were smart, they'd realize that heading Left is a dumb move. However, my faith in their ability to recognize that fact has almost vanished in the past two years.
Here's to hoping you're right though and our Party stops catering to the Left.
My thoughts exactly. At least half of the freshmen socialists will be one-term wonders, starting with the Ds who won the DeLay and Foley seats.
Actually Randy Graf lost in Arizona, and the guys on Fox are already spinning it has a lose because of the hardline on immigration. Wait, this will be made out, that immigration hurt the republicans. Most Republicans ran on it, and its a tough night, Fox is project a total 30 seat pick up, heck even GA 8 and 12 and looking bad for republicans.
