I hate to say this, but Bush made his bed, now he can lie in it. After a hard fought and won 2004 election, Bush stood at a podium and announced that "I have won political capital and tend to spend it." Well, he chose to spend it on Social Security reform. Not that Soc. Sec. reform isn't a worthy target, but WE WERE AT WAR. The entire dem campaign was anti-Iraq. So, while Bush worried about reforming Soc. Sec. the dems continued a relentless,non-ceasing attack on the Iraq War. They went unanswered for almost an entire year and by the time the White House woke up, it was too late.
Political capital, yep, Mr. Bush, you spent it allright.
I hate to say it, but I believe that will be the judgment on President Bush.
Hold the cross-fire and pre-criminations until all the numbers are counted, and with absentee ballots that may not be tonight.
No, let me correct you, Flip. George W. Bush made his REALLY big mistake when he didn't concede the 2000 election when Little Al started crying. THAT was his big mistake. He had the nerve to say, NO I won't lay down for the liars. See, if he had done that we'd be in hog heaven now, probably with fewer skyscrapers but happy as clams.
And don't forget his last minute, luke warm support for border control. The country wants the border shut and the illegal aliens deported! And what was Bush talking about all the time -- his "guest worker program" and eventual citizenship for millions of these gate crashers who America doesn't want within our borders. President Bush does not seem to under the message that Amercans are sending him: "We don't want our country looking like Mexico and we will not tolerate any other language except English as our national tongue." Deport them!
