"What am I missing here? "

The networks break down the actual returns from various precincts. If the vote is close and there are a whole lot of Democratic majority precincts yet to report and only a few Republican majority precincts yet to report, they call it for the Dems, and visa versa in the opposite case.

So... While it may seem close right now, the analysts think there are more Dems than Republicans yet to report. Let's hope the analysts are wrong. This is one of the cases where they could be wrong because the Maryland Dem areas have large numbers of black citizens who may cross over to vote for a black candidate.

Hope you voted twice for shelley. Punch once and then right her in :)

Now of course had she been a dim, her name would have been on the ballot.

What are you guys talking about? Don't you remember the Iraqi's braving the belligerents in their own neighborhoods to vote? Don't you remember the purple fingers? Most of those people want freedom. You guys are way off here.

I hope you are right. It would be a bitter, bitter fight, and I would hope the dems lose the nation.

I got this from a caller on a talk show this week:

Not all Democrats want the terrorists to win, but ALL terrorists want the Democrats to win.

This needs to be the theme of the next two years...

The biggest winner tonight, that everyone is overlooking is...

The mainstream media.

They have had a profound effect on the populace with their biased reporting and obvious agenda. It will empower them to become even worse. I don't care how the new media is growing. It's what the sheeple watch that makes the difference. And this election can be credited to the influence the MSM has had on America. Period.

I bet even Rush brings this up tomorrow.

It is our TROOPS who lost tonight.!!

I shudder to think of the damage to the morale of our troops, when they hear of a Democrat takeover......It will be CLEAR and DEVESTATINGLY obvious the PEOPLE they are protecting have turned their backs on them!!

IT WILL HAVE A MAJOR EFFECT!!!

Still looks good for Allen, but I suspect that he won't win by enough to escape a recount.

It is indeed sad times, if that statement is true in America.

National Review:

From a Senior Senate Staffer [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
I think Allen’s okay, but there are a lot of absentees out there. Corker’s looking good, Talent should be okay. Maryland is a lot closer that they make it sound on tv.

___

There are 180,000 absentee ballads to be counted in MD too.

"That's wonderful news. Allen up over 40K with just over 60K votes remaining to be counted. Webb will have to break 2/3rds of the balance to win."

How close does an election have to be for the loser to request a recount?

There is still hope. A lot of Dems are voting for Steele and if they are going off normal Dem leaning districts, this one is not over.
