All right, folks. Guess I have to do it again around here and hand out the chill pills.
1) It is absolutely clear to me that we have won this. We will keep the Senate, and I'm 90% sure we keep the House. We'll probably gain a seat, maybe two in the Senate.
2) I know this from the turnout numbers, just as I did in 2004. The fact is, forget Indies. They don't vote in high numbers. It's all about the two parties, and who gets out their base.
We have done that today beyond my wildest expectations. The info we have from the Hotline on turnout is overwhelming, and in virtually every key state, we have exceeded Dem turnout by 2, 3, 4, or 6%.
As I predicted, we are seeing a Dem UNDERVOTE. They are underperforming, esp. in key states such as OH. However, they are underperforming far worse than even I dreamed. We are looking at 20% in Cuyahoga County! Brown and Strickland couldn't get elected dog catcher with that level of support.
SO HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT: THE MEDIA IDIOTS HAVE THEIR TEMPLATES. THEY WILL BE VERY SLOW TO COME AROUND. IT WILL BE A LONG NIGHT, BECAUSE THEY WON'T BELIEVE THEIR EYES.
They may even "call" a few House races, maybe a Senate race, based on some ridiculously low "exit poll" and have to recant later. Be patient. The turnout numbers suggest we absolutely cannot lose.
Reason enough to tune in by itself!
Im not conceding jack yet.
Man I am so tired of you tonight. Way too negative.
Well, totally wrong here. I don't think too many experts on either side would have thought we would lose if we turned out a higher percentage of our voters than we did in 2002, but we did, and we did.
Yeah, but you don't have to eat 40 pounds of crow tonight. Yech. Even 57 sauce doesn't do it.
So, that's it! A 14 year run. And, frankly, the GOP stopped dancin' with the ones who brung 'em.
Hello, amnesty & impeachment hearings.
I always thought having the Republicans in the majority was a counter trend, because, frankly, it's much easier to win elections running as a Democrat, promising a socialist utopia with the DBM cheering all the way!
It's a mystery to me. The whole thing is a mess tonight!
Per FOX
PA - U.S. House - District 12
45% Precincts Reporting
John Murtha (i) Democrat 49,550 (61%)
Diana Irey Republican 31,665 (39%)
To not fear that is a fools game.
Still, what could the GOP have done to POSSIBLY turn out more R voters? That stumps me. I kept thinking that the margins would evaporate once the turnout kicked in. Well, we turned out more voters than ever, but it didn't matter. So while I would LIKE to think it was that the Republicans "weren't conservative enough," how does that square with the incredible turnout . . . and a loss nonetheless?
Thanks Lando.
Maybe all the GOP voters did not vote for the Republican. Especially, considering a lot of Dems ran congressional races as conservative.
Absolutely no way. The public as a whole still largely supports the troops; they don't support the strategy. Eveywhere I go, troops are widely respected and deeply appreciated.
The anger isn't with them.....it's with leadership.
Frankly, depending on how the jaw bone media (talk radio) treats this, 1969 will may never enter the picture. But let the jaw bone media treat this election in certain ways and there is a possibility that it may become 1969 all over again.
On another topic, Blackwell conceded very early. He must have had internals that showed a blood bath and he never shared it with his operatives.
Hang in...exit polls are being used. This is NOT over.
Independents.
The answer is that we were against the media. They were relentless and pulled out all the stops. And they won. Which sickens me. The media flexed their muscles and outdid us all.
Do you think it's Iraq? Or voter stupidity? Was Dem turnout high or are we facing turncoat Republicans voting for Dems?
It's unconscionable for any candidate to concede before, at least, all the votes are in. That's unfair to the workers and supporters. It also tells people their votes don't matter.
