If early indications in Maryland and GOP rumblings can be believed, it looks like the GOP will hold on to the U.S. Senate thanks to the election of Michael Steele to the United States Senate.
Several top Republicans in DC are quietly saying they expect Michael Steele to win and Georgia House District 12 to flip to the GOP.
Another great Steele ad!

Others are saying higher turnout in the Republican regions around Baltimore, while the liberal parts of the city itself aren't seeing such.
Who knows who is right at this point.
Yeah, those were hardly "the good old days" :-)
I also remember voting for Don Devine - one of the true Reagan Revolution "Sons of Liberty" - against Steny Hoyer. Don Devine was the OPM Director who urged President Reagan early in his presidency to stand up to big labor and fire the air traffic controllers. Truly a defining moment.
I sure hope both Gov. Erlich and Lt. Gov Steele can pull it off.
It has already been ruled that intent matters more, and that is what the courts will say.
I see what you mean about Keyes as a carpetbagger, but I disagree on them being different.
The key for me is that they are both very values-oriented. Steele is far more skilled on bringing that vision to bear in a low key manner. Keyes is more of a rant-and-rave type.
Now if you said Ehrlich and Keyes were different, I'd be with you 100%.
No matter, we're all on the same (and hopefully winning) team.
Proudly voted for Steele and Ehrlich in Cecil County this afternoon.
Blame me if Michael loses - I'm about thisclose to picking up some champaign on the way home from work. I don't want to get caught without it...
BUT STILL VOTE, PEOPLE, IF YOU HAVEN'T!!!!!!!
Dear Loyolas Mattman,
You note a significant point of similiarity between the two men.
However, I don't think that's the critical element.
I think that the fact that Mr. Steele can talk about the ICC and the Purple Line is the meat, not the gravy. Mr. Steele's knowledge of local issues is the critical element, and that's a real difference between him and Mr. Steele.
That's what tells folks that Mr. Steele is the real deal. That's where he really showed up Mr. Cardin, and really drove home that he's one of us, a Marylander, like others.
"No matter, we're all on the same (and hopefully winning) team."
You got it!

Steele winning will make my night, even if we lose 50 seats (yeah right) in the House.
A Steele victory serves a reminder that the GOP is the Party of Lincoln and Martin Luther King's dream lives on.
The other key issue in this race is the rise of the DC suburbs.
Cardin knew nothing about the issues down here, particuarly transportation.
One of the great mysteries is how Doug Duncan would have done against Ehrlich. Ehrlich would have had to run more to the right - Montgomery County is not as easy a target as Baltimore City. It would have been a completely different campaign, and who's to say how that would have affected the Steele race.
Dear Loyolas Mattmanm,
"It would have been a completely different campaign, and who's to say how that would have affected the Steele race."
How do you know it's not the other way around? I figure if anyone's got coattails today, it's Mr. Steele, not Mr. Ehrlich.

If this is true and Steele wins in MD, we are going to do very well tonight.
NJ needs to dump Menendez..I remain hopeful
I hope so. I did my part, voting for our Lt Governor this morning to be our next Senator.
This is a good first sign indeed!
"C'monnnnn Steele! EAT IT, MACACAPO! THERE. MUCH BETTER.
It's more than that. I believe he is a future President of the United States, and this will secure the future of the Republican Party. I am most anxious, for the sake of the future of conservatism, that Steele wins.
Regards, Ivan
" The way it looks now--this will be the deciding state in who controls the Senate!!"
How did you reach that conclusion?
Because it looks like Allen may lose.
