Losing Libertarians
Washington Times ^ | 11/6/06 | David Boaz

Take a look at independent voters. There are more of them than before, especially in the West. More than 25 percent of Arizona voters now register as independent or third-party voters. And according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll, they've shifted sharply toward the Democrats in this fall's elections.

"Thanks for nothing you stupid Bots."

That must be an example of your self-proclaimed libertarian principles...pout, sit out the election then blame those who did their job and voted.

I didn't sit out the elections. I voted for conservatives. Didn't vote for a single Dem/liberal. That the GOP didn't have that many "conservatives" and a whole lot of RINO's isn't my fault.

Voting for your so-called conservatives is as effective as calling masterbation pro-creation. No matter how much you try to convince yourself you're with a beautiful woman in the end you're all alone and nothing practical was accomplish but your self gratification.

When Hillary wins in 08, because of your RINO bullsh*t, you will have only yourself to blame.

Don't worry about the 2008 election...it will still be you in a dark room by yourself.

"And yet despite all their bellicose angst and relentless self promotion, they STILL have yet to elect even ONE person to ANY office ANY where."

True, but neither did the Republican party win the presidency until Lincoln. I'm not a libertarian, but their views have more similarity to Reagan's than we're seeing from our national Republican leaders.

Tell me was the bridge to nowhere worth it? What about everything else in that transporktation bill?

Was ignoring Illegal immigration for 5 years worth it?

Was not drumming out one congressman the minute you found out what he did worth it?

The republicans got drunk with power, hopefully in the next two years they will sober up. I voted Repub for senate, house, and state governor but I will not crap on a libertarian who might not have had the decent conservative candidates I had..

LOL! You folks aren't even the little "b" base but you did nail the issue sqaurely. "We didn't like that."

I'm sure you will be thrilled with Speaker Pelosi framing the debate on your favorite issues now.

Act like a liberal, and I won't vote for you.

Sorry if that is difficult calculus for you to understand.

Yes, lacking a "decent conservative" to vote for is a good excuse of helping to elect a "decent liberal".

I'm sure the unelected "decent conservatives" will work hand-in-hand with the elected liberals to enact every bit of legislation important to you and those who voted for someone other then the less-then-decent conservative.

Look...we know bull manure when we see it, all right? And running a bunch of RINOs and self-serving pork-barrellers on the Republican party platform is exactly that: manure.

So rant all you like, but we're not having it.

We hate it as much as you do, if not more. Now, if you're going to insist on laying Republican failure in this election at the feet of conservative independents, you're smoking crack...but if that's what you think, we can work with that, like so:

"Yeah, we hate it that the libs gained power...and if the Republicans don't start showing some integrity and leadership, you can expect more of the same."

I also know that Ronald Reagan dedicated a mandatory death sentence law for major drug dealers to Nancy. It's very apparent the libertarianism of today is far from that which the Gipper spoke of.

You focus exclusively on drugs when discussing libertarianism while ignoring everything else about it. Would you agree with the opinion that smaller government is better? That there should be no gun laws? That the federal government should not be involved in education? That the welfare state should be abolished? I'm genuinely interested in your opinion on these things.

After last night's debacle there are some pretty big changes coming to the GOP. Your boy Mike Pence is probably going to be our next minority leader. If that happens, the GOP will be moving in a libertarian direction. I hope you choose to stay along for the ride.
