A Muslim policeman is taking the Metropolitan Police to an employment tribunal over claims of racial and religious discrimination.
It is claimed firearms officer Amjad Farooq was removed from a unit that protected senior figures, including Tony Blair, because he was seen as a security threat. A security check found his children attended a mosque associated with a Muslim cleric who has suspected links to a terrorist group, The Independent said.
The 39-year-old was also allegedly told his presence might upset the American secret service, which worked closely with the Met's close-protection group. PC Farooq's solicitor, Lawrence Davies, said: "Muslims are labelled guilty by association. Doubt is insufficient to save them.
"They are assumed guilty before being proven innocent." PC Farooq was a firearms specialist working for the Wiltshire Constabulary when he was transferred to the Diplomatic Protection Group SO16 (DPG).
Its main role is to provide static protection at government, diplomatic and Metropolitan Police sites. All officers within the DPG are required to undergo security vetting, including a counter-terrorism check. PF Farooq had already been working for the DPG for six weeks when he told in December 2003 he had failed his counter-terrorism check.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has been notified of an employment tribunal claim by an MPS Pc alleging discrimination on the grounds of race and religious belief."
STFU Amjad.
Get these monsters.
It's about religion, not race.
That, IMO, is a huge security risk. Kudos to Scotland Yard for discovering this terrorist in their ranks.

There is also no telling what else may have turned up in his background check. Lots of cops wouldn't be chosen to guard high ranking people for various reasons...
And just how many terrorists are mooselimbs?
Nearly %100.
This is what should sober everyone up.

Makes good sense to me.
Couple this with the threatened strike by the Paris airport union for the firing of Muslim workers found to be associated with extremists, and you've got a concerted effort to undermine all security clearances for Euro Muslims.
If they succeed, and with enough striking and/or rioting they well might, the only thing that will keep radical Islamists out of security-critical jobs is a terrorism conviction in a court of law -- maybe.
More then one Head of State has been murdered by a sleeper in their security detail.
A good and smart move.
Hasan as-Sabah (the original "Old Man of the Mountains" who invented the drug-crazed killers known as the Assassins) practically invented the concept of sleeper agents.
Killing by treachery is one of the hallmarks of Islam (the other being the use of woman and children as body armour). This was a good call from British security.
I don't agree. I cannot speak for France, but I think that this case will be thrown out. Security clearances are strict for a reason and one hypersensitive raghead is unlikely to find much support in the UK courts given the current climate. They're not doing themselves any favours, which is a good thing, IMO.
He is a Mohammedan in proximity to a major political figure. He is a security threat. Q.E.D.
It seems that this guy was actually removed from guarding the Prme Minister:
