"They can marry. Your thinking Roman Catholics."

Huh. And here I was lead to believe that the cure for the Catholic clergy problem was to let them marry. Guess not. A perv is a perv no matter what his life circumstance.

Still (opinion), Roman Catholic clergy should be able to marry.

Yea but Swaggart is very perceptive "Are you sitting on a beanbag naked eating Cheetos?"
(Haggard is just a snappy dresser)

I'm still trying to figure out exactly what he's guilty of. The accuser couldn't passs a lie detector test when asked if they had sex.

so- do you think Haggard's lying when he says he's guilty? Your post is confusing

He is guilty by his own admission of things that he should be held accountable for. The overseers of his church have rendered an opinion and action commensurate with that opinion. They cited sexual immorality as the culpable offense.

That the lie detector did not provide evidence is moot.

I question the motive and manner of Mr. Jones actions, but my opinion is not germane to the issue.

As a Christian, I am always especially saddened when these failures from leadership of the church occur. As a Christian, my salvation is a gift that emphasizes, among other things, that I am not perfect. With that in mind, as a Christian I will continue to pray for the grace of God to continue as a blessing for mankind - for we surely need it, if for no other reason than to protect us from ourselves.

I had never heard of him, either. The Lame Stream Media and the DUmmies are trying to tie him to Bush.

You wouldn't have known about him reading threads on FreeRepublic, either.

But he has been covered fairly (or unfairly) well in the MSM over the years. Time, The Wall Street Journal, Harper's, plus the local newsrags have done features on Haggard and his fellow evangelical ministers. His web site provides excerpts from several of the articles, but not from the most devastating one in Harper's May, 2005, issue. (This one was reposted to Harper's web site after the scandal broke, and I believe Rev. Haggard has other things to do just now besides keeping his web site updated.)

And, BTW, he is definitely "tied" to Bush, whatever spin you may hear from the WH.

As for the MSM, this topic is still on the front page of the BBC news website, although at least the dominant stories are about the Iraqi verdicts, and in the marquee ticker on the top.

Why? There is no question that the exposure is politically motivated - Mr. Jones openly confessed his motive. In that sense, there is nothing to question.

Are you questioning the ethics of Mr. Jones or the morality of Mr. Haggard?

Either way, the results of Mr. Haggards behavior were a predictable risk (pun unintended) that would have been obviated by had he dealt with his issues in the same way that he preached others to do.

a) Christians aren't supposed to do suicide.

b) All human creatures are sinners and are in need of a Savior.

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Have you noticed that most of these pervert charlatans disguised as Christian leaders are members of jump and shout churches.

You do not see many fundamentalist being drummed out of their churches.

Technically, a fool is an atheist. As for a disgrace, while agree that he should be removed from his position, again, all human creatures are disgraced in some way, and all human creatures need a Savior. Agree with your comment that his family should be prayed for.

True, but those who take the role of a christian leader and yet secretly live in such sick ways are deserving of public ridicule.

He may still get to Heaven by the grace of God, but he deserves the public lashing he's getting.

"What a disgraced Faggot. He ought to go slit his wrists or something. "

Now...there's the spirit of true Christianity, I'd say. /sarcasm
